Can't Access Certain Services/Websites

Hi,

I've been Vodafone Broadband (fibre) user for most of this year and I've had no problems with any of the service until about 2 months ago. Every now and then, for whatever reason - Vodafone seem to restricted/block access to services randomly.

I play Final Fantasy Online, it works fine for awhile, then it can't check for patches/load the launcher. I check multiple devices (as I have a laptop and desktop PC) and both are in the same state on Vodafone broadband. If i access my hotspot, it works fine. If I factory reset the Vodafone router, it again starts working fine, then after around a month or so, it happens again.

So far my list of services which get effected are:

  • Final Fantasy Online Launcher + Game
  • Steam (Occasionally)
  • Ubisoft Connect

The action each time one is discovered is to factory reset the Vodafone router from within the routers configuration screen, which is a pain because it means my Ring doorbell then disconnects and its a faff to get it back working.

I've updated my DNS Servers to use Cloudflare and Google, I don't think it helps that I've had outtages (twice in the past 3 weeks) because Vodafone's WAN DHCP server seems to be exhausted of addresses, everything on my circuit is fine apart from the router can't get a WAN IPv4 address, which then means I have to wait for a 2nd line engineer to come online and clear it down/sort it.

My router is a Vox3.0v and Firmware version: 19.4.0551-3261103. I've tried doing a Firmware upgrade within the router GUI, but that always fails. The firewall on the router is turned off, however the log seems to still have firewall events in it.

Hi @ThatRobbo! That's odd, I'm sorry you're being intermittently restricted. If you're getting a restriction error, have you checked your router's Content Controls settings? You're able to do this here, you'll just need to be on the Wi-Fi when you're accessing this

Alternatively, please get in touch with the technical team through Social Media here and a member of the team will be able to take a further look into your account. If you don't have a social media profile, please reach out on 191 from a Vodafone phone, 03333 040191 from any other UK phone, online here, or through your Vodafone Broadband app
