Hi there, I switched to an unlimited Vodafone GigaCube plan (5g) over the weekend, but unfortunately we’re having some trouble getting a solid WiFi signal. The ‘optimise location’ function always shows 100% for both 5G and 4G, and speeds are good when connected, but often things just won’t load. It seems to happen only to one device at a time (so for example, the wifi internet will be working fine on my phone, but not at all on the laptop). Restarting the router seems to get things running but restarting it several times a day isn’t really workable.
I’m wondering if there is some setting I can change to make access simpler for devices or if it could be a hardware issue?

Hi mate, seems to happen with everything - the only think that hasn’t been affected is the TV.
there are no unusual error messages, just occasionally the usual ‘timed out’ message.
Sometimes it’ll suddenly start working after loading for about 30 seconds. Just to mention as well, my phone doesn’t have any of these issues with its 4G connection.

Okay, thanks for confirming. Have you tried turning off the device, popping the sim out for a minute or two, popping it back in and turning the device back on?

I’ve given that a go - it worked temporarily but it’s stopped working again. The Tv now currently isn’t loading anything despite being able to browse the internet on my phone.
im a bit worried we’ve signed up to two years with this but can’t get a reliable connection.

Sorry, ignore that last message, the TV had defaulted back to our old WiFi router when I disconnected the new one. Things seem to be working for now, but I’ll follow up if/when things stop again

Ok it’s happening again. It’s like, the first time you open an app it takes a while to load anything up. For example, I could be watching something on YouTube fine, then open the Amazon app and it’ll take a good 30-60 seconds to load. Sometimes it’ll just time out. It’s like it has to establish a new connection every time you do something, but sometimes it fails. I’m wondering now if there could be a firewall/NAT restriction, but there’s nothing obvious in the router settings page.

Hi @Joe1987 This is strange, just a few more questions, have you tried repositioning the device and can I ask what colour the connection light is when you're experiencing the issue?

I’ve tried the router in a few places but I get 100% strength on both 4G and 5G with the ‘optimise location’ function. The lights are always showing solid green.

Hi, it’s really bad today. There are two of us trying to work from home and it’s difficult to get things done. WiFi signal strength to our devices is full, we have full 5G signal to the router. It’s quite frustrating
when things work, it’s great, the internet speeds are wonderful, but a lot of time it’s unusable.
if we can’t resolve this we might have to look at cancelling the contract as this is not the product that was advertised at all.
