I used to get 5ms ping to London (from Coventry), now I am being auto connected to Edinburugh and I get 15 ping to there, when I try to speedtest to London or even right next to me in Leicester I am getting pings above 22...I called in and they just said "they added new servers and there's nothing much we can do"...

any help?

It did with me at one point.

I believe getting the routing fixed first, especially with that ping, would bring them closer to a full resolution.

Certainly makes sense to concentrate on one problem at a time. The routing problems do seem to be getting resolved. (slowly)

I hope the routing gets solved for me 😅 I wonder if it's because I use a third-party router. I've tried resetting the connection but I always get either a Birmingham or Edinburgh gateway 😕

No using a third party router won't make any difference in the BNG you're selected on

@n87 nip over to speedtest.net and run a test to the vodafone UK server in Edinburgh. See the difference halving the distance makes?

@Alvie @Third party router's are proving to be better than the vox3, I use an rt-ac88u myself.

Useful suggestion:

  • Manchester: 29ms
  • Watford: 32ms
  • Bracknell: 36ms
  • London: 33ms
  • Edinburgh; 22ms

So looks like im definetly going via Scotland

Also got garbage levels of packet loss (14%+), at least the 3rd time in 2 years....probably easier to move to a new provider tbh, every time it happens they deny theres a problem, you spend 3 hours with 20 different non-english support staff asking you to do the same tests and to turn your wifi off (they dont seem to understand ethernet or im connected directly to the router) only for nothing to be done for weeks...

I hear you with packet loss get it every single night between 4pm till midnight (worst time between 8pm and 11pm according to bqms)

They know there is a problem with an oversubscribed service in an evening and allegedly an upgrade is ordered with no ETA for installation until then we will get routed all around to try and alleviate the problem. Running a VPN is a must for me in an evening keeps my speed in the 500mb+ each way instead of 100mb(at best) down and 900mb+ up.

Outside of those hours 900+ up and down

@Gemma

Since the ping lowered every night between half 8 and half 10 the following happens see the picture trying to contact Vodafone is ridiculous they say its normal I'm on the 900 package with a min guarantee of 455 and I'm get 3 to the Manchester server going via bracknall its higher maybe around 500 to 700 depending so something crazy is happening
