I used to get 5ms ping to London (from Coventry), now I am being auto connected to Edinburugh and I get 15 ping to there, when I try to speedtest to London or even right next to me in Leicester I am getting pings above 22...I called in and they just said "they added new servers and there's nothing much we can do"...
any help?

If you're on the correct BNG, I take it that being on a static IP would make no difference except it sticking to that BNG. The traffic for customers with static IP's etc isn't prioritized or anything is it?

Not really, but Leeds is only 10 miles from me. I'm assuming it would give me the connection I should have rather than through the Manchester BNG. Would give me better latency too.
I need to see what happens when all this is fixed first.

I started to dig around to understand if there's anything connecting Zen and Vodafone, particularly the backhaul provider used. And yes there is, Cable & Wireless (C&W) - https://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.php/2013/03/isp-zen-internet-invests-gbp3-5m-in-new-uk-local-excha...
Cable & Wireless was bought out by Vodafone back in 2012. Zen then did a deal with them in 2013 as per the previous link.

I noticed threads on that zen forum, but because they go back a lot further (mid 2021 I think) I didn't think of a connection. But it makes sense. Are the upgrades because the network is approaching full capacity? Has all the rerouting proved too much?
Without proof positive the above questions are just speculation on my part.

FYI: BNG is hardware, your gateway location would usually be referred to as your POP (Point Of Presence).

We're not all experts on this. We understand what each other means and we talk about what we're seeing.
On a traceroute my first external hop goes to 90.247.128.1 aka edbtn-bng-c1 aka Edinburgh BNG. We don't ever see anything in between so how would we know about PoP? We're just common users. Don't get wound up just because we don't talk the talk to your standard.

I have to say until these recent posts I had never heard of a BNG (I had to google it), I had always known it as a POP.
And saying you are wound up when people use the wrong name for something is not unreasonable.
How would you feel if people got your pronouns wrong? (no me neither)

I just wasn't aware it was called a pop. I was just saying what I saw. If I'd known the proper term I'd have used it. I think I'll just call it a "gateway" as that's what the vodafone router calls it
Anyways, I requested a static IP with fixed routing. I was assured by the agent that when my IP came active I my routing issues would be resolved. Nope. I have my static IP and I'm still routed via Edinburgh.
It's clear to me now all we can do is wait. It's also clear that as much as the agents want to help they simply can't.

I don't need to. I'm 10 miles from Leeds, my gateway is in Edinburgh, my ping to Edinburgh is currently 11ms, my ping to Leeds is currently18ms+. That is my problem.
We know a lot of clients have been shuffled around to allow an upgrade to be done, an upgrade that was supposed to be completed Monday. That's problematic for everyone involved.
No one in London should be routed via Edinburgh. It's totally messed up, that's Vodafone's problem.
Too simplistic?
After this upgrade is done there will be others to follow. We will face more problems for more clients until all the upgrades are completed. We should look forward to that day, when we finally get the good service we are paying for
