ping spikes all day resulting in lag in online games ( vodafone please there are multiple reports)

just another example of the huge spikes in latency/ping which also transfer over the same behaviour in online games resulting in lag and well just a horrible experience, posting this as other Vodafone broadband customers have and because i have a wonderful 3 months with Vodafone when they were doing things right then bam out of the a continuous 4months of ping spikes and drop outs and all sorts of issues which have not been remedied a new Vodafone vox3 router or  engineer visits well yeah its obvious Vodafone has changed something in their networking which started all of this as the 3months was so stable and ping wasn't spiking then i don't know a router firmware update ? or they just changed something on their end either way its unacceptable and i have called more times than i would like I'm just posting this in the hopes someone at Vodafone sees it and maybe acknowledges this horrible latency issue they have and maybe backtrack whatever was implemented or changed that made their services so all over the place

So, we've established you're on the Surrey Quays gateway, and give the majority of the pings that would be pretty close to where you are.

How long ago did you change back to a dynamic IP? Why are you pinging Manchester? Are the game servers there?

im in south west london , im on a static ip i didnt change i was just saying before i requested the static ip i was on dynamic and i was having the same issues apart from one time where my router changed its ip and all my issues went away i took a picture of it as i didnt think it was a coincidence and then mentioned it to the tech team when they was trying to resolve my issues they said they could offer me it as static but they gave me a different static ip and all my issues came back the next day, they told me the ip shouldn't have anything to do with it but non the less we are still here, im also just pinging manchester as its the default ive tried london etc all the same thing huge ping spikes and ofcourse the game just pulls the closest server ie london or reading etc but still same behaviour in the game as that ping test

Pinging Manchester just inflates your baseline ping times.

Do you have another router you can test with?

ahh right ive done london same behaviour still random spikes to 50ms even though the base is lower ie 5ms or 4ms , unfortunately not i only have the 2nd thg3000 router they replaced the first one to rule it out same thing happened as soon as i plugged it up but of course due to the fact my connection was stable for the first 3 months of my contract on router 1 i would say router is fine then got a new one, and of course with the coincidences i kept experiencing when i was on a dynamic ip and it would change address the same router would have 1-2 weeks stable then bam an ip change and all our ping goes unstable , but no i only have the Vodafone router im expecting a call back today or tomorrow hopefully they figure it out

It may be time to just suck it up. I had a very similar experience recently, though I must admit I was on a Gateway a few hunred miles away. I couldn't game, stream or videoconference for a good few months. This was with a static IP.

It took a few weeks but after cancelling the static IP the service did rectify itself.

In your case however all I see is ping spikes (BQM and you're own tests) which could indicate retransmits (poor connection) but that would only be relevent to an FTTC service. FTTP tends to just work, or it doesn't.

i will ask for another ip or to go back to dynamic and try my luck if nothing im asking to leave i dont mind going to another provider for dsl everyone has superfast here i was hoping to finish my contract and by then full fibre would be in the area but i guess not. yeah i dont know all devices same thing ethernet wifi you name it so its definitely form Vodafone that's the root cause thank you anyway appreciate your help i just have a hunch its a bad ip as dynamic used to give me a week plus before it gave me a ##~## one and all the issues come back , going to beg for the one address i came across on dynamic i took a picture of when it worked as it should see if they can give me it., do you think my recorded bqm and ping tests and tracerts show the situation well enough so i can forward it to the tech team or isit not enough to show what im experiencing and all looking fine to you ?
