Hi all,
I am a Vodafone user with FTTP and the Pro 2 package with 900mbps now. I know Vodafone offer 2.2gbps speeds now but for some reason I dont have this available. Is this due to the fact I have Openreach FTTP instead of CityFibre? If so, does anyone know if / when Openreach will be doing higher?
My biggest concern though is that Vodafone only allows me to select 900mb and yet EE shows 1.6gbps available for my property. If my line is capable of 1.6gbps and Vodafone offer up to 2.2gbps, why am I unable to get the faster speed? I am on the Pro 2 package with all the extras, so I want to make sure I am getting the most my line can handle as I have a lot of load on my network.
Thanks

Vodafone have always been behind the times when it comes to updating databases,, but it will happen.

@mdss1988 Watch the USA closely. President-elect Trump is going to alter how data flows across the American internet. It seems that not all data will be obliged to travel with the same priority.
For reference this was announced on The Register website in the last few days.

Oh interesting. I didn’t know that. I’ll take a look into it because we run everything via VPN tunnels and p2p / SFTP so I’m curious how that will be affected. thanks for the heads up! 😀

@mdss1988 The extra bandwidth is unlikely to do anything for your gaming.
I don't know what data you move at work, but I was helping someone architect a solution for an organisation that is expected to want to shift 20TB each day. The cost analysis shows that at present it's cheaper to put a disk in a padded bag and use a courier. The increase to 1,600 from 900 isn't going to be that great as it's unlikely that work can stream at 1,600 to you anyway. Even if your work could host a torrent service you are unlikely to fill the broadband to capacity.

It will help with large game downloads for sure as the servers can easily cope with 1.6gbps
As for file sharing I know the work servers can handle it as my boss has a 2gb leased line and it’s on his advice I upgrade if I can. Also we have other services that use cloud computing so running them concurrently would be more beneficial over the faster connection.

Great news. Hopefully it comes out to other areas soon. Openreach shows up to 1.6gbps for my address and EE it’s orderable so my ONT seems fine , I just need the package to be available. I’ll try to be patient haha
