Just wondering if anyone gets the signal that is shown on the network coverage map? My area (LS23) shows I should get 4g Good indoors & outdoors, I don get any signal at all indoors and nobody I know gets 4g, I get a couple of bars gprs outside

I appreciate what your asking @miller75

The Status Checker does have a disclaimer which says “ Coverage may vary by location. This map shows a computer generated prediction in a given area. It should be used as a guide only and is not a guarantee of actual signal coverage. As with all radio-based systems, service may be affected by a number of local factors, such as building materials, tree cover and even weather conditions. Data reception or speed may not be as good indoors or in a car.

If your experiencing issues then the following Vodafone help and support page has tips to try and a template a person can copy and paste back into their thread so the Vodafone Social Media Team's can take a look.

Thanks for the reply @BandOfBrothers, another word that springs to mind for "prediction"  is "guess"

I don't want to go through the network issue checks etc again, its just easier to move on

Hey @miller75, We'd hate to see you move to another provider before we've taken a look into this and checked if there's anything we can do to help you upgrade to more suitable devices. If you pop us a message through one of our social channels we'll be happy to go through your options with you.

When you message us, be sure to include a link to this thread, along with your Community ID as this will save you repeating yourself.

Hi @Mark

Unfortunately I don't use social channels, customer services have already told me it will cost me £200 to upgrade early

Thanks

I'm sorry hear this @miller75, unfortunately if one of the agreements hasn't ended, we wouldn't be able to do anything in regards to the Early Termination Fee. This would be the balance needed to settle the agreement you have with us, which would then make you eligible to take up a new contract if you wished to.

If you decide you'd like to upgrade with us and take a phone that would allow you to take advantage of Wi-Fi calling, you can reach out to the dedicated Upgrades team by calling 191 from you Vodafone number, or by dropping them a message via Live Chat here

@Farai The £200 is the early upgrade fee. There is now way I will pay Vodafone £200 to upgrade a perfectly useable phone because they have withdrawn a service!

To be honest I find it amazing that's what I have to do, but I suppose that's the penalty you pay for been a 30 year loyal customer.

As I have said in an early post Vodafone use o2 masts in our area and so do Sky, now there is no Sure Signal service it wouldn't make sense to pay Vodafone prices for the exact same service I get from a cheaper vendor.

Going back to my original question perhaps Vodafone could update their coverage map to be more realistic, to say 4g Good indoors & outdoors and to not get any signal seems to be quite a discrepancy

I do understand your frustration with this @miller75 I'm sure I'd be feeling the same in your situation. I will pass on your comments regarding the network status checker reflecting accurately, however for us to implement this if this is reflect incorrectly we would need to complete network troubleshooting starting with the network initial checks

If you would like us to take a look over your account, please don't hesitate to drop us a message on social media.

Hi @miller75

Looking back on your previous threads you had used a Sure Signal at your location for connecting to the network.  With the Sure Signal being discontinued and with it being old technology, Vodafone are now recommending WiFi calling here: WiFi calling . If your phones are not compatible, Vodafone should be able to do early upgrades to make sure you have the benefit of using the service.

As far as your signal is concerned, try using the zoom out feature of the coverage checker, this will give a wider picture of the surrounding network that may affect signal at your location.
