When will Vodafone support SMS over Wifi Calling?

When will Vodafone come out of the dark ages and finally implement SMS over wifi calling?

Given Wifi Calling spec (voWIFI/GAN/UMA) incorporates SMS (and MMS) support, why is Vodafone's implementation limited to voice calls only - did they buy cheap kit off the back of a lorry perhaps?

It doesn’t work at all, you have miss read, nothing works other than Wi-fi calling

It works if you have an iPhone running iOS 14.3. If you’re using android, you’ll need to wait for a software update.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S20+ and it works on that with Android 11

Amazing. It finally works! I have no Vodafone signal at home and my Sure Signal died recently (and obviously Vodafone aren't selling new ones), and so I was considering moving to EE - I'll now stick with Vodafone. No idea whether the change is due to Vodafone or Apple (I have an iPhone 11 Pro, with iOS 14.3), but I'll take it!

Working on the Samsung S20 series with Android 11. So down to Vodafone

Here are the the timescales of Android 11 roll out on Samsung phones etc, so my A40 should get it in April 2021.

Thanks @chistery this is working fine for me on OIS 14.3.  I've tested it so far with a couple of different 2 factor authentication texts and it seems fine.

Your comment about having no information about when Vodafone will support sms through WiFi calling is a sorry reflection of the company’s attitude towards its customers.  We are now in a national lockdown and therefore reliant on our technology to conduct any business.   Dealing with the bank, communicating with customers, even trying to sort a problem through the Vodafone helpline, require sms through WiFi calling for those of us who have happily relied on the sure signal service.

I will certainly be changing my service supplier.  There may be no improvement in service but at least I won’t have to go through an hour and a half on the helpline with a technician who didn’t state at any time that sms was not supported by WiFi calling through Vodafone.

 Hi All 👋 Including a short messages service (SMS) feature to WiFi Calling has been a complex feature include and has taken longer than anticipated. This has been completed in the past couple of weeks and it's now working for many of our customers. We’re sorry there’s been a delay getting this up and running, but should be available to handsets using the most up to date software.
