IF YOU ARE USING A THIRD-PARTY ROUTER THAT WORKS 100% WITHOUT BUGS.PLEASE PM ME THE MAKE AND MODEL SO I CAN UPDATE THE LIST
The first thing you need to do is ask Vodafone for your username and password. live chat with Vodafone is best because you can copy and paste the name and password into the router. ( some users did write it down wrong. password is lower and upper case. username watch out for zero and o )

Vodafone will tell you to set it to 101, if you do this it will not work! Keep the default MTU size (1480), do not change it to 1492, as suggested in several posts in this thread, or it will not work!.

Hi All
I've been battling with this for months with my vodafone gigafast connection, and recently moved house so thought i'd give it another go and it finally works so thought i'd share what i did,
I'm using a Netgear R7800 Nighthawk running DDWRT firmware (Dec 2021 build)
The pppoe details the vodafone chat gave me were:
xxyyzz - @vodafone.co.uk (this forum doesnt let me combine that sorry).... and a password
i asked about VLAN ID/Tags and they had no info on this so initially left it, before looking through this thread.
Turns out for gigafast, you need the full @broadband.vodafone.co.uk found in the first post of this thread for the vdsl section at the top, so you need to amend the username they give you to the domain above. Password was as expected. Then, i also set my eth0 (wan port) to VLAN Tag to 911 and priority of this default at 0. Left everything else as default and MTU as 1492.
I'd almost given up before adding the broadband in my username and suddenly everything sprang to life, so glad to get rid of the VF own router and stop being double natted!
Hope this helps others, FYI i'm based in Lincolnshire UK

Hi Ya
I'm on gigafast 900 plan. I'm trying to set up my ASUS RT- AC86U to use instead of the VF one
I have my username and password from VF but still no luck in getting a connection.
Can you tell me what settings I need to use to get connected please, Cheers

The settings are the same for all routers, it's down to the ISP (the settings page will be laid out differently). e.g. Vodafone setting are:-
Vlan ID = 101
802.1p = 0
802.1q = enable (not on every router)
Username = dsl********@broadband.vodafone.co.uk
Password = ********
PPPoE
MTU Size = 1492
Gigafast Internet LAN - IPTV (optional)
VID = 911
PRIO = 0
Other settings as above.
The rest of the settings auto detect when the router and the dslam are negotiating with each other.

hi Ya
Still No Connection using a Asus RT-AC86U! Have tried all settings in the treads the only options i have it to input username and password, all other things like VID = 911 or PRIO = 0 I have no where on my router to enter these.
If anyone has screen shots of the setup required I'd very Greatfull.
Cheers

@Kiwimike on the RT-AC86U you can set the VLAN ID and Priority on the LAN > IPTV page, and then select the manual profile:
And you do not need a new router, you've already got one of the best WiFi 5 routers there is!

Hi,
I’m trying to setup my gigafast internet on a tp-link AX3000 router. I’ve set it up as PPPoE, with the username and password that Vodafone provided me with. I've set the Internet VLAN as 911 and it's still not working. Has anyone set this router up successfully or know what I'm missing? And help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Vodafone
3rd Party Router
The settings are the same for all routers, it's down to the ISP (the settings page will be laid out differently). e.g. Vodafone setting are:-
Vlan ID = 101
802.1p = 0
802.1q = enable (not on every router)
Username = dsl********@broadband.vodafone.co.uk
Password = ********
PPPoE
MTU Size = 1492
Gigafast Internet LAN - IPTV (optional - I don't recommend this section - for me it stopped my router from working)
VID = 911
PRIO = 0
Other settings as above.
The rest of the settings auto detect when the router and the dslam are negotiating with each other.

Setting VLAN ID via the IPTV settings is only required on routers where there is no ability to set this on the WAN settings page. If it is needed then it has to be used such that it applies to user WAN traffic rather than just the specific IPTV channel that it was originally configured to facilitate!

Hi all,
need some help please as I am trying to setup my own router on Gigafast.
I contacted Vodafone and have my username and password.
But my router does not get an IP. I have a DSL-AX68U which has a DSL port and a WAN port for connections. I have setup the WAN connection port and configured everything as I've seen here, but no IP. The error I get on the router logs is: "cannot get public IP address, stopping".
This is the same error I get if I type a dummy user and password, so was I provided with the wrong user and password?
