Router Connection to Honeywell Evohome not working

Midori47
4: Newbie

My Honeywell Evohome Home Controller for my home heating system relies on Internet WiFi connection to optimise heating according to outside temperature, The Outside temperature is sent to the controller by Honeywell/Accuweather by internet. This worked perfectly well for several years until I changed ISP from Plusnet to Vodafone. All other internet and wifi infrastructure in my home works perfectly well on Vodafone's Router.

My issue is the Evohome controller shows a successful connection to ISP Vodafone via my home wifi network but does not receive nor indicate my regional outside temperature.    I suspect the outside temperature cannot ping from Honeywell through to the Honerywell Home  Control despite it showing it as being connected.

I guess the issue is Router related. It's firmware is 19.4.0551-3261103

Just to be clear, my regional outside temp is not data from an outside thermometer. It is a temperature sourced by Accuweather for my region and that digit is fed to my Controller by Internet by Honeywell via Internet.

Best way to reset is with the recessed button on the back, holding it in for 10 seconds. You shouldn't lose your phone or anything else as the settings will be reloaded from their server. Effectively a reprovisioning.

Make a brew after reset as the router will go through a few reboots before settling down.

PS

re "Honeywell Total Connect Comfort" website.   Yes, steps 1, 2 and 3 were completed a few years back and I rechecked all settings still intact a week of so ago,,

Step 4 was requested and reconfirmed a few weeks ago when they needed to injected the latest firmware as first response to my issue.  Data for for step 4 had not changed either and the firmware update was successful

The fact everything, including updates, works fine, and it is only the outside temperature that is not being registered is really strange. If that is being obtained from the Accuweather servers, I can't believe it will need open ports to achieve it.

We recently had a post on here where the poster moved from another ISP that were providing a static IP, but a Vodafone static IP wouldn't work for them. The problem, apparently, was that the previous supplier was providing a host name for the static I.P., and Vodafone do not. Don't know if your problem could be similar?

Also can't remember if/how the previous poster solved their problem.

Yes, that is so.

Router > Internet : DNS DDNS >  enables selection of external account a "DDNS Provider" to be chosen  and Domain Name/Account to be inserted after setting up an account. Most, it not all offwe a free of charge account with one static address,  I used No.IP a few years back for my Home Security system. I will go thru these options tomorrow and insert the settings.    Thanks for reminder.

PS....

After resetting Router, the former data Settings > Local Network > Static DHCPv4 - Local Network  is now empty !

I would have expected the Honeywell server (152.194.73.22) to have given a response to a standard ping as that's how their controllers check the connection. The fact you don't get a response says the server is Unreachable.

I don't run the vf router so I can't help you with the port forwarding, but I'm sure someone will be along to help you with the 3 ports I listed earlier.

@Midori47 Turn off IPv6 because Vodafone don't support it.

Unless you have to have WiFi 2, turn that off. Your home heating thing it probably connected to the guest network and that could be the problem.

It may not be the easiest thing to do, but have you tried power cycling the Evo Home Controller?  Yes the literal have you tried turning the controller off and back on?  Especially with devices that sleep their WiFi, it can genuinely help give the DHCP settings retrieve a bit of a kick.
