Router High CPU Usage

Hi, I notice after a few days my Router CPU usage is spiking to 88-99% and just sitting there constantly at that until I reboot the Router. I've tried factory resetting it but it results in the same thing after a few days. When the CPU usage is high the internet becomes very slow, not in speed but in responsiveness, eg images taking 20 seconds to load etc.

The error log is just filled page after page with this until I reset it then the logs look normal

Any idea?

Ok I took all devices off the network, the issue remained. The one wired device I used to access the router home page returned clean scans from Malwarebytes and Defender. I also turned off router Wifi. Issue remained.

For some reason toggling Device Fingerprinting fixes the CPU issue but it soon returns again whether I leave it off or on.

Here is the logs with 100% cpu usage, then after toggling DF and CPU usage going back to 3%

Disconnect the Tp-link powerline device and test again.

Sorry yes I forgot to mention it was turned off also when I turned off the Wifi, it made no difference.

I have to wait again now for the CPU usage to climb back high again

Do you have any logs from when things are disconnected? We're trying to diagnose a problem for you but you're sharing logs where devices are still connected. Obviously the device you're testing from has to be connected (by cable) and all your wireless devices should be turned off as the WiFi needs to be running. All usb devices should also be disconnected.

The log just had that 1 error repeated the entire way through with all devices disconnected, it continued the same error every second even during the time nothing was connected but my 1 wired pc device to monitor. I will try get another log when the error crops up again and I'll disconnect everything but I have no hope since it didn't change anything before when I tried, seems like my unit is defective or something

It could be faulty, but imagine waiting for a replacement router to have the same thing happen again. TBH this doesn't look like a faulty router.

Don't forget to reboot the router with everything disconnected except WAN and your testing device. If the fault shows again test with a different device. I should have made this clearer in my last post but I ran out of edit time.

It's not really possible for me to do it because it can take 3 days or so to crop up, it acts normally for days then randomly decides to do it. It's implausible to get my family of 6 to not use the Internet for 3 days until it crops up again lol

I'll try a few other stuff but ye guess I'll just have to live with it, if I find a solution I'll post it

Do you have a usb drive connected? That's my first suspect so run without it.

No, nothing connected direct to the router except 4 ethernet, 2 pcs, 1 media server and a powerline. I unplugged them all from the router the CPU remained the same, kept them unplugged for 10 mins.

Did you reboot the router?

A factory reset would be the next logical step.
