Vodafone won’t do anything about it as the so called tech guy said it causes issue strange that I’ve never had the problem before and the limited amount of control they allow for users is crazy So thanks for your help but it want useful

If the thread isn’t locked then it can't be reopened and by that factor it can be replied too 😱

@Gordyola Calm down.

Two choices to think about: 1. get your own router, this is a popular choice and it means if/when you change ISP all you have to do is change your logon credentials, or, 2. get a WiFi access point, give is a different SSID name from the router and connect to that.

Yeah I have a repeater on the way so will try that if that fails I get my Orbi set-up. When I switched to Vodafone I change the network name and password to match my old one and that was seamless unfortunately as time goes on my smart devices drop out and I can’t reconnected Thanks for the reply

@Gordyola If the devices are 2.4GHz it may be that they cannot connect to channel 12 and 13, and the "clever" router has decided to select one of those two. Naturally the app and browser interface do not have the detailed features that would help. There may be something in the router logs to indicate why they were dropped or refused re-connection.

If the devices are on other channels in 2.4Ghz or 5GHz it could be that the DHCP timeout needs changing. You have to balance the number of connections it can juggle and how long before they are dropped to make room for a fresh connection. Check your devices for power-saving mode, and not just for the whole device but also for the networking chipset. In Windows it's via Control Panel and then dig deep into the networking devices.

You could have interference. Likely if there's a strong signal at the other side of the property from the router so its selection algorithm is making poor choices.

If 5GHz things are disconnecting try the higher channel ranges (100-144) and (149-177). If it's WiFi 6/6E I'm stuck as I don't have that at home. If you're close to an airport it's just possible that the radar is upsetting your 5GHz WiFi - on that you're really stuck.

If you have an Android device, get a WiFi Analyzer app (I'm sure they exist for iOS too) and wander around looking for dead-spots.

Thanks for the information

im sure it’s the router as it was find with my Orbi when I was on BT I couldn’t use their router as I have too many devices for it to handle I’ll see if the repeater helps if not then I’ll get the Orbi up and running Thanks for taking the time to reply it’s appreciated

@Gordyola No worries. Now you know why I use my own router and a PiHole.

It has to be the same network name as the router otherwise a lot of the out of house connections won’t work such as turning heater off when I’m not home and back on as I return or the smart door locks
