Why does my machine rarely connect to the booster?

I have Pro Full Fibre 900 with a single booster. The Booster is connected and working well, however what connects to it seems to be arbitrary.

The booster is in my office, 1 ft away from my Laptop yet most of the time my laptop connects to the main router which is downstairs. As a result I get poor connection and often freeze in meetings.

Is there a way to force my machine to only connect to the booster and whay logic does the system use that it thinks I should connect to the weaker signal? Whenever I connect to the booster I get excellent stability.

.@bluegnu Have you tried moving the booster in the office away from the laptop, it may be overloading the laptop WiFi, it's also called "nearfield interference". Try about 6ft/2m distance or more.
