Call problems in the US

step_hen

I’m currently in the US, where Vodafone use T-Mobile and AT and T. I wanted to make people aware there’s a technical  issue with AT and T that prevents voice calls being made and received. Calls can be made on T- Mobile, but I find that their coverage is inferior to AT and T,’s. After several conversations with Voda tech support, they acknowledged there is a problem with AT and T, but, apparently, they’re not in touch with AT and T to resolve the problem.

Google have enabled VoLTE roaming for Pixel phones in the June update. Link

Does Vodafone support VoLTE roaming?

Given all the above, I’d say no 😂

Well I would agree simax, but with Google only enabling it this month for Pixels, it'll be interesting to see if it does start working once enabled in software on handsets that are updated.

I don't think it's anything to do with whether your phone's VoLTE enabled. My iphone 12 is VoLTE enabled and didnt' work in the US. I think it's a technical issue that the UK and US versions of VoLTE aren't compatible for some reason.

step_hen, the link I posted from Google specifically mentions that VoLTE roaming is now enabled for Pixels in the June update. VoLTE worked fine on Pixels when on your home network before this.

So for VoLTE roaming, it seems you need a software update and your carrier has to support it.

Sorry - I didn't read your post properly. Going by my recent trip to the US, Vodafone VoLTE definitely isn't enabled.

Three say it's live. Vodafone say they will have it later in 2022

It's going to be a right mess of having a supported phone, running the right software, on a home and roaming network that support it.

In regards to the call issues in the US on AT&T. Vodafone need to act fast and enable roaming VOLTE. The only operator that currently supports VOLTE roaming in the US is Three. They don’t only support VOLTE roaming AT&T but also on Verizon. EE, O2 & VF need to act fast and get a roaming agreement sorted otherwise I can see an influx of complaints coming through thick and fast.

Voda have posted this the last few days:

https://support.vodafone.co.uk/Pay-monthly/Travelling-abroad-Pay-monthly-/1850755082/Roaming-changes...

It confirms all the call issues in the US, and that they're working towards a solution. Nothing about what US carriers do to their network has nothing to do with Vodafone, nothing about them not going to contact US carriers about a fix and nothing about customers contacting US carriers themselves.  All this is what I've adamantly been told by Voda Tech and Complaints Teams. They are so infuriating.

And amazingly that they claimed no knowledge of any this less than three weeks ago!

Suggest those that can move to 3, if you want a dependable phone service while travelling in the USA as how can we be expected to trust Vodafone on this  with there vague promise of a solution ‘later in summer’ given there recent record.
