Can't access anything apart from netflix on data

As per the title, I cannot access anything on data - apart from Netflix which works fine.
Can't access Facebook, twitter, google.

Qhatsapp messages in/out don't work, imessages do (they come up as blue which means data is being used and they're not sending as texts).

Can anyone explain?

The chatbot thing says there are no restrictions or blocks on my data.

Can you check everything in your iPhone such as the apps for permissions etc @bowfer 

If data is being used for Netflix and imessage then your apn settings should be fine although it wont hurt just to check them in the phone's settings. 

Also customer services on 191 , Live Chat or the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Facebook Messenger or Twitter DM can check your account.

How do you check individual apps for permissions?

Example, I've gone into settings > google and mobile data is on.
Same with Facebook.

There's nothing else that says 'permissions'

My apologies my primary knowledge comes from using a Samsung phone that must allow more detailed information to look at within each individual app. Strange that you can't on an iPhone. 🤔

Are you able as a process of elimination try your sim card in another phone to see if you can then access apps.

This would rule out an account issue @bowfer

The phone is locked to vodafone, so I cannot try another provider's SIM, but I have another vodafone SIM I can try.

If that allows internet access I will go after vodafone for cancellation of my contract as they've already given me a replacement SIM and the problem stll continues.

That is breach of contract on their part.
If the other SIM doesn't also doesn't allow access I will go after Vodafone for a replacement phone.

@bowfer Would you by any chance have Netflix as an entertainment plan on your account? The reason I ask is you can watch as much as you want without it eating into your data allowance.

 

I would take a look at the data application on the phone, you may have this set too low and it's stopping you from using your data for the big things.  imessages use very little data.

 

The only other thing would be network coverage, but that seems OK.  

 

It's certainly a difficult one for sure.

Netflix isn't part of the plan, the data allowance is so big I didn't feel the need to do this.

I'm leaving to go into the shop soon, I will report back with their results.

@bowfer - thanks for the tests you've already done. Have you been able to go to the store to test your SIM in another phone? What's happening when you try to access other internet pages or applications? Are you getting an error message? 

Went to the store, they annoyingly took my phone through the back and wouldn't let me see what they were doing.

I even asked to see what they were doing so I could maybe do it myself next time, they flat refused.

They than advised they have given me a replacement SIM (with the same number obviously).

Everything seems to be working now, but I have little faith and cannot WAIT to leave Vodafone next April.

If a replacement SIM has fixed the issue, I'd say that was the problem and that it's been fixed for good.
