Declined credit Vodafone’s credit score is wrong

Hi I’m wondering if anybody has ever filled

out the credit dispute form and had success?
I bought an Apple Watch from Curry’s and added mobile data from my phone to my watch for £3.75 a month on a 30day rolling contract that can be cancelled anytime.
I done this and had no confirmation so I rang Vodafone to find out it’s been declined as I am bankrupt apparently, and I am not bankrupt.
So he told me to fill out a credit dispute form, I’d like to hear success stories please.
A credit check for £3.75 is ridiculous and they gave me an iPhone 13 pro max through a credit check and my finances haven’t declined they’ve got better and my credit score has

too.
They say they can’t tell you why it failed so I rang Experian and they said the lender can tell you we can’t so I’m at a loss I’ve done online chat and called, I can’t see in-store being any different. Suggestions/help welcome.

thank you

If you have a 30 day roll over contract @Kirstycorcoran there should have been no further need for an additional credit check to add One Number to the account, as mentioned on this link One Number this would cost an additional £7.50 per month for connectivity.

I see you have called Experian, it would also be worth checking your credit file, I know I can do this through my bank online account or Application.

It sounds like you need your account checked more than anything else, drop the Social Team a message through social channels here: Contact Us

Hi!

The main thing that comes to mind is a friend of mine went through an IVA and tried to take out a contract (worth less than the £500 or whatever the reportable value for credit is) and was declined with that reason, as it's not just bankruptcies that appear on the bankruptcy register - My understanding is that the system will just display information about you and go "Appears on bankruptcy register - YES" or whatever and that's why they give that reason.

While things like this should show up alongside your credit report, you can also check directly here.

Generally lenders wont tell you why you've failed a credit check unless it's a public record, if it's anything to do with your credit file or their scoring system you'll get a generic "you don't meet the criteria for extending credit at this time, please check your credit file is correct" etc - It's also important to know that credit scores don't really exist other than a general tool and each lender has it's own criterea.

Thank you so much for taking the time out and explaining this in more detail.
I found the link very helpful too.
I have just finished an IVA this must be why! But they give me the phone 2 year ago at just past my half way point of my IVA.

I’ll be patient and try again in a couple of months I use credit score and now signed up Experian because Vodafone use them and you’re correct, they’re both different scores and have different things on them!
Thanks for the detailed answer it’s much appreciated.
