My uncle recently passed away and I have old pictures of him on my old phone. However I cannot access this phone due to me forgetting the passcode on my Apple ID. My Apple ID has 2 step verification. From my old phone number. My old phone number was a contract which was disconnected 2 years or so ago. I am desperate to get these pictures as have no other way of accessing them. Vodaphone can see that the number was linked to Me as it was on contract and can provide evidence death cerficiate ect. I need my old phone number reactivated so I can access my pictures. I am desperate otherwise all those memories are gone forever. Have already contacted apple they cannot do anything because of 2 step verification but they can send text to my old number to confirm my identity. Please please can someone help me

Have a word with the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Facebook Messenger or Twitter DM as they maybe able to see if the number can be moved to a Vodafone Payg account.
Obviously you'd need to pick up a Vodafone payg and activate it.
Or ask Live Chat.
If they can't then unfortunately that's that possibly.
Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries.
As the photo's are in your Apple Cloud/ iPhone storage I'd also speak with the Apple Community to see if they know a possible solution.
If you've forgotten your iPhone passcode.
I understand and appreciate how precious photo's are too.
I wish you all the best.

Thank you so much for the response!
my issue is that the email for my Apple ID : I no longer know the passcode and the two step verification for forgotten passcode is linked to that number

Are you able to reset the old email password @Bubbles97 and then when you have access to it again, attempt to reset your Apple ID details afterwards?

The number has been disconnected for over 2 years @Bubbles97 , there is a three month time limit to retrieve the number and you won't be able to get the old number back it will be impossible to locate and by this time it highly likely the would have been allocated to another user or even ported out to another network.
You don't need the number to locate your Apple ID, this can even be sent to another phone or email address. When you have accessed your Apple ID, the phones should be back up to Finder.
Get yourself another SIM, this can be PAYG and follow the link from Apple to reset your password.

Have you tried phoning the number? If someone answers explain the situation and ask them if they would be willing to provide you with the verification code. They will likely refuse but it has to be worth a shot!

Hello @Bubbles97 - firstly I just want to say how sorry I am to hear of your loss and I completely understand how important things like this can be after you've lost someone close to you.
My team will be more than happy to check the number, please just follow the information that @BandOfBrothers has provided above.
I do think it's important to note that as @AnnS has mentioned, due to the fact it's been disconnected for this amount of time, it's unlikely we'd be able to get it back and resetting your details with Apple may be the only way forward.
Have you tried calling it, like @WelshPaul has suggested?

Hi there thanks for the reply,
yes I’ve tried calling the number and it hasn’t been passed on yet- just says it hasn’t been recognised.
