Number porting (mobiles.co.uk)

Hi all

i have signed up for a plan via mobiles.co.uk, and provided my PAC to start the number porting process from O2. The planned port date is next week (11 Apr).

My new Vodafone sim has arrived, I’ve put it in my phone, but it doesn’t work.  My iphone recognises it as a Vodafone sim - so it’s not physically broken - but there’s no signal.

also, I cannot find any mention of a temporary phone number on the sim, the Vodafone literature, or anything from mobiles.co.uk.

is all this normal? I was expecting the voda sim work immediately, albeit on a temporary number, but this doesn’t seem to be happening.  What should be happening?

The problem here @rednaxela will be the long bank holiday weekend, numbers don't port on any network over a bank holiday or weekend, your port is scheduled for the Tuesday following the bank holiday and the SIM will activate with the ported number next week.

@AnnS surely the line would arrive with a temporary number assigned to it and then the number ported over on Tuesday after the bank holiday? If the SIM is not active then there's nothing for the number to port over on to?

Update:

My new sim sprung into life this morning, so I guess it’s on track to work.

currently both sims are active.

inbound calls go to my old o2 sim.

outbound calls from either sim show as my phone number.

I guess the port will happen at some stage today and inbound calls will get redirected to my new Vodafone sim. It looks like it’s all going to work as planned, and that I’ll never get a temporary phone number.

Great news! 

Can take up to midnight for the old SIM to become inactive and the port to fully complete.
