Short code text spam

GStevens
4: Newbie

I’ve reported a spam text from a short code to 7726.

I got a message back saying I should reply STOP ALL.

Will I be charged for this by Vodafone?

You shouldn't be charged for replying STOP or STOP ALL.

Personally, @GStevens  when it's just an annoying spam message I would just delete it.

By replying STOP or STOP ALL you are just confirming your number and the fact that the message has been sent to a genuine mobile number.  You are then likely to be spammed further by other spammers, you don't want to get on the list.

Vodafone needs to change their reply when you report Spam Messages.

In last 4 weeks, I have had several Spams from Short Code Number.

Everytime I reported the message and number to 87726, the reply has been

From Vodafone: It looks like your spam text came from a short code. Please reply to the shortcode message with the text STOP ALL

Vodafone needs to ensure same as Mobile Number, Short Codes are blacklisted.

Spam is usually sent to random, rather than targeted, numbers and the sender's ID spoofed anyway.  You can report spam, but there's probably not much that can be done about it.   The advice to ignore is sound as engaging simply confirms that your number is live (and willing to engage).

It's worth checking yout bills to make sure you haven't been silently signed up to a chargeable service (responding sometimes does that itself), but that's about all you can do.   The networks try to spot spam, but it's a game of whack-a-mole and some will always get through.
