When will WiFi calling support SMS?

Just curious as to when, if ever, Vodafone will enable support to send/receive SMS over WiFi.

I would like to have the option to use phone in airplane mode with WiFi calling on without fear of missing text messages.

EE are the only network to offer this currently?

Still means you're paying for another service to use the "service" you're paying vodafone to provide and it doesn't help halfway up a hill with no signal.

Anyway, if vodafoneuk would actually provide me with the NUC code they promised over two weeks ago...........

RE: Booster

What one did you opt for? I’m interested in one of these but as far as I can tell, most are illegal to operate in the U.K., and I don’t fancy Ofcom giving me a visit and fining me up to £5k.

Cheers

Hi

I used this one https://www.mobilesignalboosters.co.uk/product/mobile-booster-4g-lte-300-sqm/ but there are plenty to choose from. The supplier says they are legal due to the relatively low power they transmit.

The signal doesn't completely cover the house as its hard to get enough isolation between the receiving and transmitting antennas, so the AGC reduces gain (effectively transmission power) in order to stop self excitation.

That said, it solved the problem for me.

Forgot to mention. Don't bother with the Vodafone signal box. It has no range and devices don't reconnect to it very well once you have had the temerity to roam away from it for a few hours.

Hey all 👋 This is something we're looking into, but have no definite time scale on this yet.  We're sorry for any inconvenience this delay may have caused.

If we've had to contact your phone manufacturer request your NUC @Donein this will usually take 10 working days from them to provide this for you. We're aware there is currently a delay in receiving these and it sounds this is affecting your request. So we can chase this for you, please pop us a message through Facebook or
Twitter and we'll be happy to provide an update.

The vodafone website states usually 72 hours, but may take up to 10 days. If that information is incorrect why are vodafone choosing to continue to mislead people?

Its been 16 days for me, so far, and nothing.

Just as they don't tell people, when they request a stop of marketing materials, it may take another 28 days to clear system.

Just as they don't tell you, it takes 5 days for one department to speak to another, so a 14 day period becomes 19 days, and probably, as in nearly all my experiences a lot longer.

Going back to my lack of NUC code, I went on chat and spoke with an advisor, who after giving the normal, you need to be patient spiel, gave me an email address to contact the correct department about my lack of code,  when I emailed chasing up an existing request, it was just greeted with a auto response, don't use this email address, fill in a form ......and wait......fail.......fill in a form......and wait......

I don't use either of those platforms.

Hi @Donein, I appreciate how frustrating this must be getting. We would need to check your account in order to check for any access from the NUC team, and since we don't have access to accounts over this forum you'd need you to get in contact with us through one of our customer service platforms.

I understand you don't have social media, we have teams on livechat and on the phones, you can call up on 191 or 0333 304 0191.

When contacting customer services, I would advise having your IMEI number to hand 👍

I won't use the phone because vodafone are untrustworthy, they have made too many verbal agreements and not kept them, and because when the call drops due to signal problems, no one rings you back, you have to start at the beginning all over again, and again, and again

I tried sorting it out through chat, that ended no further forward but with a guaranteed call back within 3 days. Its day 4 and no surprise, I haven't heard a thing.

So what now? Fill in the form another 50 times, and remain in this loop. Or shall I just go straight to cisas?

I am hearing conflicting statements from VF phone support.  I am told SMS over Wificalling is enabled for the phones on the spec list: iPhone 6s and above etc.     Others have said it has not been setup for any phones.   I have also been told Suresignal is being switched off in October 2021... but I wouldn't guarantee that.

So whilst VF say their techies are trying to configure wiFicalling SMS for me on my in-spec iPhone, I will not be holding my breath.  So who has used SMS on WiFiCalling successfully?   is it a reality or an empty promise?

Has anyone used a Mobile booster - like an exterior aerial + mobile re-broadcaster?  It may be my only option if they can't get SMS to work.
