Strange thing is I have another SS V3 here that's working fine.

Hi GStevens,

That’s great! Let us know how you get on. :Smiling:

Your Sure Signal ending 9045 is showing as last connecting to our servers on 17 March.

Thanks,

Jenny

I've just been having another play with this and might have come across the problem. The SS gets its network connection through a AV200 powerline connector. I've got a feeling that the SS is creating interference which is limiting the performance of the AV200.

With the SS turned off, my laptop will connect to the AV200 (via cable) and register a speedtest result of 1.7mbps. When I turn the SS on the speed drops, turns erratic, or if i start a Speedtest with the SS on it gets a ping result of 650 and speed is limited ot around 0.3-0.4mbps.

Have you come across this before?
Would mounting the SS on a flying lead further away help this? If so, how far away would be required?

Hi GStevens

Are both Sure Signals connected to the router? Or are they going through the AV200 powerline connector?

Unfortunately they are not designed to work in this way, so that may be why you're getting this issue.

Thanks

Sukhi

Hi,

Thanks for your message. One is connected via a wifi bridge, and the other through a powerline adapter. I did a quick Google a few weeks back and found several threads suggesting they are fine to use with Powerline adaptors so am surprised by your advice.

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Vodafone-Sure-Signal/Sure-Signal-and-Ethernet-power-adaptors/td-p/169...

"Can confirm that the sure signal works with ethernet powerline adaptors (a nice way to keep that distance from your router!)"

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't as long as the powerline is working as it should... The extender is replacing the little network cable that comes with it, with a longer virtual network cable.

http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Vodafone-Sure-Signal/Can-I-use-two-sure-signals-on-the-same-broadband...

"Secondly, the tricky part is the configuration of the Sure Signals as you should be able to use the second Sure Signal with an AV homeplug,"

Hi GStevens,

I’d suggest connecting both Sure Signals to your router directly.

If they then work, it’d suggest the AV200 may be the cause.

For normal internet traffic there won’t be a problem but, due to how the Sure Signal works, it could have difficulty maintaining a stable and constant VPN connection over the AV200.

If the AV200 data connection fluctuates, it means that the connection to our servers could drop.

Cheers,

Andy
