Dongle Slow Connection After A Week

OK I BAUGHT INTO A DONGLE CONTRACT 18MONTH SMALL BUSINESS UNLIMITED. FOR THE FIRST DAY THE CONNECTION WAS SLOW, AFTER MAYB 10-20 HOURS LATER THE CONNECTION WAS BRILLIANT THIS LASTED FOR ABOUT A WEEK. ITS BEEN 3 WEEKS SINCE IV ORDERED THIS AND THE LAST 2 WEEKS HAVE BEEN REALLY BAD. AND I MEAN REALLY BAD. I THOUGHT MAYBE DUE TO MAINTAINENCE OR SOMETHING IN THE AREA IT WAS SLOW SO GOT ON WITH IT. NOW ITS GETTING VERY FRUSTRATING AS I HAVE ALOT OF THINGS TO DO ONLINE. MY GRANDSON WAS ABLE TO STREAM ( ANY VIDEO/AUDIO HOSTING SITE ) VERY EASY AND DOWNLOAD/UPLOAD VERY EASY ALSO. IT SAYS I'M ON A CONNECTION OF 7.2MBPS WHICH IS INCORRECT. I AM NOT EVEN GETTING 1MB UPLOAD OR DOWNLOAD SPEEDS. MY POST CODE IS BT654AB WHICH HAS A GOOD SIGNAL WHICH I HAVE CHECKED ON YOUR MAP INDICATOR. I HAVE DONE VIRUS SCANS ALSO. STILL VERY SLOW. I HAVE RESTORED MY COMPUTER STILL SLOW. WHY AM I GETTING SUCH SLOW SPEEDS? 6.5KBPS DL 3KBPS UL AND ITS SAYING 7.2MBPS CONNECTION. PLEASE DO NOT REPLY WITH SILLY QUESTIONS AS IM VERY VERY VERY CLOSE TO DROPPING THIS CONTRACT AND TAKING LEGAL ACTION AS THE QUALITY AND FALSE ADVERTISMENT TO THIS CONTRACT IS WRONG. I WAS TOLD IN THE SHOP I WOULD HAVE EASILY 4MPBS DOWNLOAD AND UPLOAD SPEEDS ON MY 7.2MBPS CONNECTION NOT THE UNDER 1MBPS I'M GETTING. AS STATED BEFORE MY CONNECTION 'WAS' GOOD AND NOW ITS AWFUL. HELP! THANK YOU.

I FORGOT TO MENTION IM ON 3G(BLUE LIGHT LIT UP ON DONGLE)

Hi MargaretElizabth

I can totally understand your frustration with this. I'd feel exactly the same. As today is New Years Day though our engineers aren't available today. However I've emailed one of my colleagues to look further into this for you.

I'll let you know as soon as I know anything more

Thanks

I agree with everything that Margaret has been saying here. I'm experiencing the same performance at BN9 9GG with the same figures that Margaret is quoting. This is a different area with the same problems. Either Vodafone has had a huge explosion with its customer base numbers or you've got a serious problem with your servers at your hubs.

I'm a professional Electronics Development Engineer in the communications business...when we get these kind of problems the first thing you look for is a common denominator. Vodafone needs to look inwards to its own infrastructure. Traffic may be busier over the Christmas period for the residential customer but other networks are not showing the same wide area issues.

Hey MargaretElizabeth & PaulCrone,

i cannot connect to g2 with vodafone mobile connect as therte isnt an option to. the only options i have is 3g preferred(which is ticked) 3g only(which iv tried) ans gprs preferred and only!

We really need you guys to try setting to 2G only - 2G is GPRS ;)

Doing this will refresh your network connection - after you've successfully connected to 2G, can you try browsing? What speeds are you getting? It will be slow, but should level at the speed of a 56k modem or just above. After this, please reconnect to 3G, and see if there are any differences - let us know! We'll get to the bottom of this for you guys!

^I had the same thing with my dongle (when i had it) it seemed that one day i had the choice to use 2g or 3g but then over night the option disappeared?

I did put that in my thread but it was ignored?

I could have been more helpful and suggested "force a manual roam" but don't do either
handsets or VMC to provide accurate instructions.

Hello everyone

I know the speed issue is frustrating but rest assured we're following this very closely as it is affecting you all.

Please can anyone who hasn't already done so remove their sims from the modem and insert them into a mobile phone, then try to make an internet connection to Vodafone Live (Vodafone handsets) for example?

This will help us narrow down things and help in our efforts to get to the bottom of the issue, please report back with any results, :)

Thanks

tried that various times with no luck. also the sim trick and changed my dongle... still slow speeds. this is out of order if you ask me. do you honestly expect me to carryon like this on an 18 month small buisness contract with dial up speeds? i certainly dont. i'll go to the authorities about this. this is extortion. taking money for a service you claim to provide and DONT!!!!!! i always thought vodafone was reliable i now wish i went to o2.
