Dual SIM phone & SS - need to boost 2G signal

I'm running a Galaxy S5 Duos dual-SIM phone. Standard phone, not rooted.

Like all other dual SIM phones one SIM can run 3G/4G whilst the other SIM can only run in 2G, which is very frustrating. Also I have to run a SureSignal V2 to get any signal at my house. The problem with this is that the SureSignal will only work with 3G so it won't recognise my other SIM only running 2G. This basically means whenever I'm home (and I work from home!) I can't get any signal for SIM2 although SIM1 (running 3G) is perfect.

My question is whether there is any way to make a SureSignal V2 recognise a 2G signal on my SIM2 or, if not, is there any devise out there that will give me a good 2G signal?

The simple answer is no. The Sure Signal only works with 3G phones and isn't compatible with 2G phones.

Where did you get the phone from? I'm not aware of Vodafone selling any dual sim phones.

Bought the phone from Amazon. I run SIMs only deals with Voda. Need both SIMs as one's for work and one's for home/private.

I suspected I couldn't make the SS give a better 2G signal but thought that surely there's another way of boosting this at home. Is there really no way to boost a 2G signal at home?

Thanks for that. I've called Voda but it's acually for Vodafone in mainland Europe, no the UK, despite the facts it's written in English. Shame as it looked the perfect solution.

The information @jeffkinn has given is correct, the Sure Signal will only connect to a 3G device. This means it will only connect to the SIM that's running on 3G or 4G within your dual SIM device.

Which specific country in Europe are you referring to?

Thanks :Smiling:

I have no idea which country that 2G booster worked in, I was just told it's "for mainland Europe" from the Voda sales team. I'm in the UK.

I find this whole thing totally baffling:
1. why produce dual SIM phones that can only run one SIM on 3G/4G and other SIM only on 2G, it renders that SIM almost useless.
2. why does Voda not offer an easily accessible way to boost a 2G signal? The tech isn't that old.

Because Vodafone doesn't supply any dual sim phones I don't believe and therefore won't officially support it or any of its functionality on their network. I'm not even sure they now supply any 2G phones in the UK.
