Ending contract

Spoke with two Vodafone reps on the phone and one on webchat. Been given two different end dates for my current contract a three different figures to pay it off. Not inspired with confidence as Vodafone seem to pick dates and amounts out of the air. Did ask why the end of contract date was wrong and how they know it’s right now but this question was avoided. Told I can’t speak to a supervisor for an explanation. Looking to up grade early. Vodafone was an option. Not so much now. Giving the impression they don’t know what they are doing. Thought their billing issues were a thing of the past. Apparently not.

Have you looked online or on the Vodafone App?

That will give you the contract end date.

Thanks. I have looked online but only after the date was changed by Vodafone to the 8th September. Not sure what it said prior to that but I have been told more than once that it was altered to the 8th. As well as the different end of contract dates I now have four different amounts to pay off the contract. I have asked multiple people why was the date originally wrong and how can I be sure which, if any, of the cash amounts is correct. Every member of Vodafone staff has very obviously avoided answering this and chosen instead to answer a different question of their own choosing. Yesterday I was advised I was now in deadlock and that Vodafone can’t now give me a settlement figure as a result. Effectively I cannot now pay off my contract even if I want to. It’s certainly an interesting way of retaining customers.  I was advised that Vodafone have passed the case to an ombudsman but they did not know which one. Today I spoke with the ombudsman. They advised they do not accept cases from phone companies as it is the customers choice to go to them. Needless to say I have registered my complaint pending my deadlock letter. Vodafone advised there is a big of a backlog producing these. Can’t imagine why.

First question is, so you agree with the 08September as your end date or not? If not have got any proof what it should be.

Calculation to terminate contract is very simple. On your bill you will have your plan details and how much it is.

Here is an Example.

From 22 December 2017 to 21 January 2018
> unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, 8GB data, Vodafone Global Roaming, 12
months inclusive Entertainment ending 13 Oct 2018
£28.00
£23.33 (EXC. VAT 20%)

You work out how many months remaining in your contract then multiply it with the amount without VAT (Bold/Undelined/Italics in above example). Take 2% off that and that would be your Early Termination Fee.

The only thing you need to take into account is whether you last bill has been played or not.

Some Vodafone, take that into account while some don't hence the different figures.

In above example 13Oct is the contract end date. So another roughly 9 months to go if you were to end contract today, so multiply it by £23.33 which would be about £210. However as bill has been paid till 21Jan you can take off roughly about £14.

Hi @Domk71

I'm not surprised your unimpressed at this and confused going from the different information being given.

Your contract should have two prominent dates.

An Early Upgrade Date.

An End of Contract Date.

The Early Termination Fee would be applicable only if a person wishes to end their contract before the Contract End Date.

Was the Contract taken out directly with Vodafone or a 3rd party  ?

A further option is Flexi Upgrades is applicable > Flexi-Upgrades/Whats-the-difference-between-Flexible-upgrades-and-Flexi-upgrades.

If you still wish to end your contract and not keep your mobile number then Vodafone would require 30 days notice.

If you wish to take your mobile number to another Uk Network then ask for a Pac code which does not require the 30 days notice as the Contract automatically ends when another Network uses it.

Or you could move the number to Payg which takes 30 days to complete or go to SIM Only.

Tip > Do not cancel your Direct Debit until a final bill has arrived in approx 2 weeks followed by a sorry your Leaving letter and a £0 bill has been received.

I hope you get full resolution however you wish to proceed and perhaps remain with Vodafone as not all Networks supply the same level of Network Connection and Data Speeds in the same places.

I wish you all the best with this situation.

It is just "PAC" (Porting Authorisation Code) and not "PAC code". :Winking_smiley:
