Sky MER and SS

Recently took out an iPhone SIM only tariff with VF and at the same time ordered a SS box as I knew there was no VF 3G at home (only get Edge)

I should have read these forums before ordering really as my ISP is Sky and my D-LINK Sky router was changed over to MER the other week, which apparently wont work with the SS box?

Are VF working on this issue, considering Sky are in the process of changing over all their Broadband users from PPPoA to MER?

Hi guys,

I've just had word back from our Sure Signal engineers that the new Sky IP ranges mentioned on the last page have now been added to our firewall whitelist.

Can anyone on Sky who was in that IP range please let me know if your Sure Signal is now working. You'll be able to check your IP address here. Please note that you may just need to reset your Sure Signal beforehand.

Hi Lee,

Since gaining my VSS back again today, then two hours later loosing it again, I have just tried a power re-boot and hey presto the VSS came back to life again.  Maybe it was something to do with the firewall work that was going on!

Did you manage to find out if it was an individual IP white listing that fixed the problem ?

or have Vodafone been able to include the wider range of 2.### IPs in their whitelist ?

Hi gazza33,

Thanks for the update.

I'm still not entirely sure what changes were made, but I expect to be able to communicate this shortly.

Great news you're back online though.

I'm hoping for more contributors to confirm they're now online so I can close this case.

Any takers?

Cheers,

Lee

I can confirm that mine is all working again.

Thanks

I have just had a text from the missus also saying the ss box is working again.

Will take a look when i get home later.

Hi,

Just to confirm Mine is now working again also.

It came back on yesterday.

Whoever and whatever you did - Many thanks

Hopefully this will last.

Thanks

Nigel.

I am reluctant to let my router upgrade it's protocol to MER since we don't know exactly why people's Vss boxes are suddenly working!

Before I upgrade to MER I need some sort of assurance of my ip address being added or details of the work carried out by vodafone.

Glad so many boxes are working again!

Regards

Is there anyone from Vodafone that can confirm the actions taken to get these sure signal boxes working? Is the entire range on the whitelist or have you added the individual IP addresses that we have given you?

Once confirmed I will test, but until then I'm worried it is only working for a select few people and not across the board.

Regards.

I never gave anyone my ip address and i have been working since friday, my ip address is 2.219.xxx.xxx

Thanks Bod, should work for me then also. Will test tonight.

Hey guys,

I'm pleased to report that the cause has been identified and the matter resolved.

Further investigation showed that although some firewalls indicated they'd taken the changes on board, they weren't working correctly in practice and this has now been fixed.

@ romper20 - let me know how it goes, though I'm certain you'll be fine :Winking_smiley:

Cheers,

Lee
