Sky MER and SS

Recently took out an iPhone SIM only tariff with VF and at the same time ordered a SS box as I knew there was no VF 3G at home (only get Edge)

I should have read these forums before ordering really as my ISP is Sky and my D-LINK Sky router was changed over to MER the other week, which apparently wont work with the SS box?

Are VF working on this issue, considering Sky are in the process of changing over all their Broadband users from PPPoA to MER?

Hi guys,

I've just had word back from our Sure Signal engineers that the new Sky IP ranges mentioned on the last page have now been added to our firewall whitelist.

Can anyone on Sky who was in that IP range please let me know if your Sure Signal is now working. You'll be able to check your IP address here. Please note that you may just need to reset your Sure Signal beforehand.

Dave - serial number is 40112857863

Hi chrisgamer,

Which make and model of router do you have?  Have you opened the following ports?

  • 8
  • 50
  • 123
  • 500
  • 4500

I've checked the VPN connection to Vodafone's server, and can see that it last connected 10/09/2011 at 22:17 if this is dropping out  it could be that either the line is causing the connection to drop or the ports on the router may not be setup correctly.

Thanks

Thanks Ben, how do I forward the ports?

Hi chrisgamer,

LOL  I'll tell you but only if you tell me which make and model of router you have

Routers come with different ways of setting up port forwarding however there’s pictorial guides found for most routers on portforward.com. I think this was mentioned in the troubleshooting section.

Let me know and I will do my best to point you in the right direction.

Thanks

Ben- this is information from my router.

System Details
Manufacturer Sagemcom
Model Number F@ST2504n
Firmware Version 5.23a4N
ADSL Firmware Version A2pD030n.d23b

Hi chrisgamer,

I found this guide for your router on portforward.com (you may need to click on "skip this advertisement" as you don’t need to buy anything.) You will need to open port 8 in the same manor I noticed it’s missing from the guide. Once you have done this it might be worth checking to see if you can find the Sure Signals MAC address in the routers routing table. After reset the router and see if this resolves your problem.

Thanks

These details are from my router config and this is the serial number below the router - PVG81AC085194

Hope this helps

Hi there pjjohnston88,

I'm afraid I can't do anything with that serial number. I've 'Googled' it and the search results bring me back here.

Have you managed to open up the router's settings page as the model number should be listed there?

Cheers,

Lee

The sure signal has started working, but when it does work the Internet stops working? I can't get connected to the sky box and my phone just tries to go on the Internet through the 3G. What do I do?

I am having the same issue x_CatDx

I have went into the router options and that is all I can find.  Can you be more specific with where I am looking?
