Sky MER and SS

Recently took out an iPhone SIM only tariff with VF and at the same time ordered a SS box as I knew there was no VF 3G at home (only get Edge)

 

I should have read these forums before ordering really as my ISP is Sky and my D-LINK Sky router was changed over to MER the other week, which apparently wont work with the SS box?

 

Are VF working on this issue, considering Sky are in the process of changing over all their Broadband users from PPPoA to MER?

Hi guys,

 

I've just had word back from our Sure Signal engineers that the new Sky IP ranges mentioned on the last page have now been added to our firewall whitelist.

 

Can anyone on Sky who was in that IP range please let me know if your Sure Signal is now working. You'll be able to check your IP address here. Please note that you may just need to reset your Sure Signal beforehand.

Hi,

I took delivery of my iphone 5 about 2 months ago and just cannot get it to connet to VSS. Have tried full reset extra, I had issues with my iphone 4 but you guys managed to getting it working.

Can you please help again.

Sometime when you switch to a Micro or Nano SIM your Sure Signal takes a while to pick this up.

 

I've checked your Sure Signal from the posts in March where you gave us your serial number and it all looks like it's working fine.

 

One option to force your Sure Signal to recognise your iPhone is to completely deregister the unit and reregister it to see if it picks up the iPhone.

 

Can you give this a go and let me know how you get on?

Having trouble with Vodafone Sure Signal relating to MER. Please can you help fix it?

The IP address you’ve supplied is on our whitelist so there are no problems there.

On a PC:

Click on Start and select Run
Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
A black box will appear.
In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter

What lights were flashing on your Sure Signal?

 

I've checked your serial number today and can see it connected to our servers at 18:05 yesterday, are you still seeing the flashing lights?

 

To make sure your Sure Signal is as up to date as possible, I’ve just performed a resync for you. To make sure the resync completes, can you perform a factory reset:-

 

  • Hold down the reset button until all the lights show/flash (about 30 seconds)
  • Keeping the reset button held down, remove then re-insert the power lead
  • Once all the lights display, release the reset button
  • The Sure Signal will come online in about an hour

 

Let me know how you go on.

Hi Chandler,

 

The Sure Signal times out if any step takes longer than 200ms. Looking at the traceroute, that first step swings from really quick to well outside this maximum. Can you re-run the traceroute so we can see if that was just a hiccup?

 

I've done a resync as well, co you'll need to reset the Sure Signal:

 

For Sure Signal version 1 or 2:

  • Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds)
  • Keeping the reset button held down, remove then re-insert the power lead.
  • Once all lights display release the reset button.
  • The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

 

For Sure Signal version 3:

  • Locate the button on the base of the box next to the Ethernet ports.
  • Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds.
  • Once the lights come back on, release the button.
  • The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

If it still fails, can you confirm what lights you're seeing on the Sure Signal box ? You only mention that they are flashing, but different combinations mean different things.

Hi,

 

Having so many problems with my sure signal - over a week now.

Having so many problems with my 2 sure signals - over a week now.

All lights on (1, 2 & 4) but no 3g on any phones.

Have been taken through all ping tests, tracerts, retests, restarts, resynchs etc but still nothing.

Even tried swaping sim to other "spare" handset....still nothing.

Fault logged with support team on Wednesday, ref: CS00013936160

Chased for an update 3 times through "live chat" and told they've not looked at it yet.
