Sure Signal 2 just stopped working

Hi

After many months of working without a problem, my Sure Signal 2 has just stopped working. It seemed to be receiving an update yesterday - could it be due to that?

Nothing on my system has changed - the Sure Signal just stopped working.

It either has just the red light on continuously, or most of the time it has the red light on and the other two lights both flashing.

I have performed a factory reset on the SS and rebooted the router.

Details:

Ping 22ms

Working OK for me now, and it seems for others. Seems to have been a Plusnet error which they have now sorted out.

Mine started working overnight too.  Plusnet were adamant that it was nothing to do with them but it had to be something to do with their equipment.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for confirming that your Sure Signals are back up and running again.

If anyone is still experiencing issues, let us know.

Thanks,

Phil

got 2 suresignals. both stopped due to the plusnet issue, then started working again.

Last night both stopped again and still not working this morning. restarted everything.

Is this now a vodafone issue - the light config on the devices is different to the problem on wednesday

Hi @SJH31 ,

Thanks for posting your results.

The speedtest and IP look fine, but I can see your unit hasn't connected to our servers since 16 December. As your traceroute isn't reaching us, I'd speak to your ISP to see if there are any firewalls in place.

Trying a different Ethernet cable or testing the Sure Signal in a different part of the house can also help rule out a hardware issue.

Cheers,

Ben

Hi Ben,

The tracerout is showing that the trace is getting as far as 85.205.0.93 Checking out this IP address it belongs too or is managed by Vodafone Germany, so I would say the problem is from there onwards?

Learn about 85.205.0.93, an IP Address managed by Vodafone Group Services Gmbh and located in Dusseldorf, Nordrhein-westfalen, Germany.

Hi SJH31,

I don't think Ben is correct in what he say's about your trace route not reaching Vodafone's servers,

The servers at 212.183.133.177 etc. (cluster4.vap. vodafone. co.uk) are secure servers and heavily firewalled and will not allow traceroutes and pings etc.

The trace route termination at 85.205.0 93 is correct as it can't go any further.

If you look at any traceroute which has been carried out in regards to the Sure Signal they always finish with a 85.205.x.xx  ip address, assuming that the trace goes all the way.

Just to prove the point here is my traceroute for my Sure Signal which is working perfectly.

Sorry to intervene on your thread ....... I just wanted to put the record straight. :smileyhappy:

Good luck,

Mike.

Thanks Mike,

Also this IP address you can get to is 'owned' by Vodafone Germany!
