Hello all!
I use a Vodafone Smart 4 Turbo, and it has, inexplicably, developed a tendency to want to throw a pop-up in my face whenever I unlock it.
It gives me the following information: "Sorry, something's not working. It may be your connection." in a little white box, and... that's it. Just nothing else. I can really provide no answer as to why this is occurring. My only theory is that the internet where I am right now can be a bit touch-and-go, and the set is having trouble connecting anyway.
Unrelated but equally disconcerting: I have used the settings to turn off sounds when I unlock the screen while the phone is not in silent mode (To clarify, this problem obviously doesn't occur in silent mode.)
In a really quite baffling move, the phone has decided that it just doesn't care about what I want; when I unlock the screen, it still makes a ton of noise. Unchecking the unlock sounds button in the settings does nothing.
I wouldn't really mind, but it's one of those things where the phone's just started doing it for no discernible reason, leaving me in doubt about what it's going to do next.
Is the Vodafone Smart 4 Turbo going to gain sentience and vaporize me?

I'd recommend following the above advise regarding a factory reset.

Factory reset complete; Nothing installed, Internet searching done; waiting to see if error occurs or not right now

Cool. Hopefully it won't pop up.... I have my fingers crossed!

I understand that is good information to know when diagnosing this error which occurs with this particular handset/device; I am hoping this will be beneficial to anyone else experiencing the same issue with this particular handset/device. What I will need to do is install Apps which are not on this handset/device at the moment after factory reset and / or initialise-use any Apps installed already as part of factory reset. As a smartphone the intention would be to telephone, text, browse internet but also utilise Apps.
I will hold off from utilising Apps at this point and will see what your guidance would be on getting back to using this as a Smartphone, and in the meantime I will only use for telephoning and texting. Thank you.

I agree, the long term aim is for you to have your phone up and working 100%. We just have to work out what the trigger is for that annoying pop up.

Unfortunately the device is displaying the same error again and very loud noise when it appears on the device. Not able to text or make phone calls with this error. Very distressing to get to this point again.

What has changed that brought it on? Is there something that you've installed or updated?

only sent text, called another vodafone, and browsed internet while waiting to see if phone was stable or not.
then on Sunday evening the error started again.
