Please note that this is a different problem to the one raised for a different serial number v3 unit.
I am trying to install 40124108412 and 40124107836 at PE31 8AE.
The FAQ does not appear to be relevant due to not covering v3 and also not covering the symptom.
I previously had a v1 box 21196758813 working here fine.
On both V3s I get a flashing red and a solid amber on the service light. No sign of internet and user lights.
I have amended the router to allow port access for:
Port 50 - TCP/IP
Port 4500 - UDP
Port 500 - UDP
Port 123 - UDP
Port 8 - TCP/IP
Port 1723 (BT Customers only) - TCP/UDP
My IP Address is:86.133.19.212
Speednet - 38ms Download 6.8mbps Upload 0.34mbps
Pingtest - 0% lost, Ping 37ms, Jitter 9ms
I have put one in the DMZ but this makes no difference.
Traceroute via the router shows:
traceroute to 212.183.133.177, 30 hops max
1 217.47.93.250 40 ms
2 217.47.93.161 30 ms
3 213.1.69.86 30 ms
4 217.41.168.102 40 ms
5 217.41.168.49 30 ms
6 217.41.168.107 30 ms
7 109.159.249.64 30 ms
8 109.159.249.33 40 ms
9 213.121.193.97 30 ms
10 195.66.224.124 40 ms
11 85.205.116.6 40 ms

No the netgear is a reportedly very good unit - i'm very pleased with its performance otherwise.
It's taken time but my persistance through the support ticket route with Netgear is gradually getting somewhere. Latest is that they remoted into router and set up the port forwarding for me - which is nice. They then tell me to go to http://canyouseeme.org/ and enter the port numbers to see if they can be seen - no, they still can't. I tried the DMZ thing myself and it made no difference. For this all to work these 5 ports need to be opened and until the router can handle that then i don't think i'm going to get anywhere. At least i found the receipt - i might well be off to Currys tomorrow. But let's see how Netgear respond to it still not being seen after they've done the setup themselves. Right, back to wrapping presents and eating Chrismas pub crisps.

Thanks for your posts guys. I've been jumping through hoops with vodafone and my ISP.
Interestingly it seems to be a netgear issue. I have the DGN2200V3 and all the symptoms you mention have happened to me.
I setup port fowarding to all the required ports - no joy!
I gave the VSS a static IP and placed it in the DMZ - no joy!
I reset the router to factory settings and changed nothing but the SSID and password - no joy! But before the router came back up was the only time the internet light came on. Once connected to the internet back to the flashing red and the steady service light.
I've tried the uPnP on and off - no joy!
The port check tool also gave me an error when checking the ports. There is something in there little box of tricks that is blocking the VSS and I want to know what.
I am also on my second VSS and have blamed everyone from vodafone to al qaeda, but now think that at last I am getting somewhere.
As some of you have mentioned, netgear do make good routers and apart fromnthis issue I've never had a problem. I may well contact them myself, but also look forward to hearing what you get back from them.

Well, stick with me - my case has been upgraded to the 2nd level support expert and they actually answer questions directly.
At the moment there's still a couple of hoops i'm jumping through but they think it might be a firmware issue. Hopefully today i can tick all the other test boxes they need to account for and perhaps there's a beta firmware or older one that sorts it out. Maybe there was a recent update that has knocked this out of kilter.
So today i'm trying the DMZ which i have already tried but this time after a factory reset. Then i'm going to test some other ports - the thing is that they can achieve remote support so the router is capable of opening a port for that.
Oh well nearly Christmas and we have to walk halfway up a field to receive a text

The problem is well and trully with the new Netgear routers.
I remembered that I still had my old router which is a DG834GT. So I set this up and initially it tried to connect but couldn't so I configured the router with a ststic IP for the SS. Added that into the DMZ and then opened and forwarded the ports.
It now works fine :smileyvery-happy:
Trouble is I now have to take this up with Netgear and try and get them to sort out an update - FAT CHANCE!
RobinV2 - I hope that this will enable you to give fuel to your case with Netgear. I know my router is different to yours but they are both fairly new. Yours more so than mine I think, mine was a DGN2200V3 - GOOD LUCK :smileyfrustrated:

Hi Still no luck with mine!

Now moving to port triggering....
They also question Vodafones use of TCP and UDP as they say the ports are UDP ports.
Can a vodafone person confirm that it needs to be TCP and UDP on each port?
Also any news on the V3 reset procedure?
Thanks
Robin

Hi, I have a draytex vigor 2700. 1 CSS v3 is still working fine. Is it simple? Will only one work on the network as I still have one CSS v3 with a red flashing power light and a solid amber service light?
thanks
