VF router supply

Considering moving to VF fibre BB as I'm getting rough service and performance from Plusnet and about to leave them like many others.

I see here in these forums a lot of unhappiness with the Connect Router, is there an alternative on offer at ordering stage?

Thanks

David

Hi

Not currently and their is no official way of using a 3rd party router right now.

Current Phone  >

Samsung Galaxy s²⁴ Ultra 512gb.

From what I read this router would be aimed at home users do VF sell to busnesses and do they get this router?

Thanks

As far as I'm aware this is currently the only router Vodafone supply.

Whilst officially Vodafone only support their own supplied router, (although there is nothing specific in the terms and conditions regarding this) there are those who have had some success at getting their login credentials from Vodafone, enabling them to use their own equipment rather than being stuck using the Vodafone supplied router.

Read this thread, from post 147 onwards there are people detailing how they got their login credentials off Vodafone.

Thanks all.

Maketo I looked at that link and it seems difficult to get the username and password in order to use my present OR modem + Plusnet router (Sagemcom 2704N) which work OK for me as supplied.

I'm only thinking about a different Modem/router as every where here is more or less saying the VF one as supplied is rubbish.

I'm not wanting to do anything fancy like the folks in the link are.

If I go ahead and migrate to VF I would now want assurance the VF modem/router would perform like my present one.

Also learning VF customer service/support are not held in high regard, now surely they must be better than Plusnets.

I get 36 Mb down and 5 up out of 55/10 is the VF router going to compromise that? ( my line supports 30 to 40 down)

Can I change my question a bit then is this supplied router similar to other providers supplied routers for customers who just want plug and play?

Hi @dnpark38

The best way to discuss our products and services is to call our Broadband Team directly on 08080 034 515 (free from all UK landlines and mobiles) and we can answer all your questions this way.

Lines are open between 8am and 11pm, seven days a week.

Louise

Thanks Louise.

Your customers have told me most of the things, such as you only issue one model of router and even if I allready have anther make I can't use it.

So only question left how is the VF one in practise so only your customers can answer that.

Hopefully they will say it is ok and works just as well as other providers issued routers, and I will then be able to proceed with an order.

Most of the answers will be, "it depends on what you want to do with it".  If you're looking for plug n' play, then the router is fine.  Compared to the Sky router I had previously, the Vodafone router is much better in terms of wifi range and speed.

Another advantage is the mobile app for performing/checking simple things, such as connected devices, turning on/off guest wifi, connection speed etc.

On the downside, others have criticised the lack of granular parental controls and advanced configuration settings - DNS, mulicast etc.
