Vodafone PAYG Mobile Broadband - How Can I Top Up From Australia?

Garryf
Not applicable
Last Christmas I was in London and purchased a pre-paid modem. The modem worked fine in London. I have now returned to my home in Sydney Australia and the modem continues to work through the Vodafone Australia network. However I cannot find any way to top up my account. My Australian credit cards are not accepted and I can't register for direct debit. I even went to a Vodafone shop here in Sydney and even they can't help me. Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

The information you need for topping up abroad can be found on the following link.

You would be unable to register an Australian credit card for a UK account.

It would be very expensive for you to continue using a UK modem in Australia, since you will incur roaming charges each time you connect.

Hi Gaza,

AnnS has beaten me to the punch here, and the information she has given is spot on :)

I would recommend, if you plan to be in Australia for a long period of time - that you purchase a PayG modem directly from Vodafone Australia so that you do not have to pay any roaming charges. This will work out cheaper for you in the long run :)

Hi Jon & AnnS

Thank you for your prompt responses. I am aware of the potential costs involved; but it hasn't been a problem so far because I haven't been able to top up. I looked at the website from AnnS and it appears the only option I have is to buy a local top up voucher from Vodafone Australia which will be in Australian dollars; will this be recognized when I try to apply it to a UK modem?

Best regards Gaza in OZ

PS: At 6:45 PM it is 22C outside

Hi Gaza in Oz

I am very envious that in the mid afternoon it is 22c outside :D

To top up your account, you need to have a UK registered credit card so we can take a payment on the account, we can't us credit cards registered elsewhere.

As Jon has mentioned it is will work out much cheaper to buy a local dongle and use that as it is £25 per 50Mb in a 24 hour period.

If you have any further questions please let us know.
