Vodafone connect router DHCP settings

I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.

I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

Hi Phenolic,

Thanks for the reply I'll look into that as it's good to know. My ProCurve isn't in part of the lan segment that would be affected by this thankfully. Like you any kit that uses multicast sit behind unmanaged switches.

Anyone any further on switching DHCP off?

No still waiting for a simple configuration option.

I'm still hoping but if there is no change after I'm out of contract I will be leaving.

You should be able to cancel as long as you are within 14 days just give them a call and find a different ISP if it was not for the good deal I got I would have cancelled long ago. Sorry it is not better news trust me I know how irritating it is.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not a computer techie and just needed confirmation that the Vodafone router is locked down. I would have preferred to continue to use a third party DNS server but, similar to you, am pleased with the cost savings by changing ISP.

Great News everyone that is the same as me and finding the Vodafone router crap, they are changing the prices so therefore we can now all get out of our contract all you need to do it write to

Vodafone Limited, The Connection, Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 2FN.

With your account number and stating why you would like to come out of contract before the 30th June.

Then you are free to find a different provider with much better hardware.

It is a shame that Vodafone did not listen to me when I first got the hardware I did try to let them that they need the route software better anyway time to leave vodafone.

Good luck to you all

Matt

Got ant recommendations?

Vodafone may delete this post... I wrote to customer relations and cited the hardware as being in for for purpose and requested a resolution within 30 days. They replied to me to say "sorry the service isn't adequate, please move supplier and will will waive termination charges".

Moved supplier and back to having a decent non crashing modem that can handle a 80MB service.

Good luck all!
