Vodafone connect router DHCP settings

I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.

I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

I've had my Huawei Openreach modem connected for ~48 hours now and my monitoring shows not a single connection drop -- very pleased.

 

I'm hoping my line speed will creep up over the next few weeks as the Dynamic Line Management in the street cab realises I don't have a crap modem connected anymore!

Finally had a time to play with credentials but no luck so far. can you share your  HG612 settings?

 

does anyone use linux/pppd? It was working fine with BT for ages but I'm struggling to make it working with Voda

I use the HG612 in its default configuration.  The credentials are used in the PPPoE settings on my AirPort router.  So, the HG612's just doing the 'modem' part, with the AirPort doing the login and routing traffic part.

 

You do need to add @broadband.vodafone.co.uk to the end of your PPPoE username.

 

 

this is what I do. 

 

the only thing I'm getting is this:

Log in data promised at contract inception and their router delivered today for going live on 08Nov16. Spent nearly an hour on live chat trying to get this information only to then be told that I must call in for it. Phone call wait 35 minutes before being connected where broadband adviser Chris point-blank refused to provide it. 

 

After 7 years with this company I have finally had enough. Unless they revert to the original agreement in the next five days (I have generously suggested this), I shall pull the plug on their broadband service and also the 2 mobiles when their contacts are due. Luckily we have 5 bars of EE 4G here with download speeds very similar (and better upload speeds) and no phone line required.

 

I can prove that they had no issue with router log in data being provided when agreeing to the contract so I think unless they change their minds in the next 5 days I'll just stay with BT and put a complaint in to the regulator. That's the same regulator that has fined Voda £4.6 million this week for "poor customer service".

 

Times are a changing Voda and your attitude really needs reviewing.

Each Time I want to try vodafone these stories and putting me off I will stick with plusnet for now

I ordered fibre on the 10th October for activation 31st October.  I told them that I was going to use my own router and they confirmed this was fine.

 

This morning I attached my router, got the fibre sync and called the 0333 3040 191 number. (They'd also got my surname wrong).

 

Once I'd corrected my details I then asked for the login and was told.....

 

Against policy.

 

But, I then said I'd confirmed at ordering that using my own router was OK, that I also knew that as long as I confirmed that I wouldn't receive support on my router and that it was indeed CE approved, they would be able to give me the login details.

 

30 seconds later I got the details in a text message. She didn't even need a photo of my CE approval sticker.

 

All up and running.

 

Happy so far.

Just wanted to add that the total call time was about 6 minutes, 5 to sort out the wrong name details and 1 minute to get the login data. I called at 9:30 in the morning and was connected to a human within 30 seconds.

My thoughts exactly, except I've just cancelled Sky in order to move to Plusnet...otherwise I was all set to join Vodafone if they weren't so inconsistent with this policy.
