Vodafone connect router DHCP settings

mattman
4: Newbie

I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.

I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

Soofla, What am I missing?

On the previous page you are on a 30 day trial and saying you will jump ship if you are not happy.

@WillVXR

If I leave I don't get my £50 connection back - so no, it isn't as simple as I thought it was.

If I got the connection charge back then I'd almost certainly be moving on, but as I don't I'll just have to suck this one up.

Sure it's a 30 day trial, so long as you can afford the £50 if you want to leave.

brutos08, when you say tier1 / tier 2 can you clarify what you mean? Is it possible to get to tier 2 on LiveChat? Is tier2 cancellations? Anyone know how to get to tier 2 if you're not in a position to actually cancel (due to contract)?

@joe87d So i was told by Customer service not broadband support that only tier 2 can give details out and only if the Vodafone router is broken or doesn’t work for your needs with the level of issues I see with DLNA and Sonos and wireless devices it should be pretty easy to get it.

Just think carefully before you try don’t just go head first “I want my details” like I mentioned before you need an angle I legit one. Even if you must go through some troubleshooting with your end goal of getting the details use your creativity

tell them that you have a router from work to establish a VPN connection. It should do the job.

Actually VPN was what I was thinking - perfect.

*Edit*

Actually - router has some VPN options in. I think the poor wireless on the Vodafone router should be enough for most people to be allowed to use their own device.

"tell them that you have a router from work to establish a VPN connection. It should do the job."

That was my valid reason. I have two secure VPNs to two other countries and I chose Drayteks to secure the data on these VPNs. The tech I spoke to fully understood this requirement and sort of agreed that I would likely loose this protection without the Draytek or similar. Bottom line was however a big NO to using one on "their" network.

The whole scenario was replayed when 'complaints' ran me a few days later and a skilled operator (well not that skilled but didn't answer for 10 seconds after each point was made which is quite a manipulative disarming technique) again said he fully understood but there was nothing they could do.

I think big organisations like Voda get away with this because the number of happy customers who have very simple needs of a network connection; by far outweigh those who have detailed knowledge. Bottom line is the network provder does what they want.

Yes BT costs more but at least you get treated like an adult and not a difficult customer with unreasonable requirements.

So, Day 5 of my fibre connection and we've at last dropped below the minimum guaranteed speed.

My "up to 80mb" connection is now down to 58mb - the exact same line that gave me a solid 75mb connection on both BT & Talk Talk. But of course it wouldn't be the Vodafone router that is causing all of these issue would it now?

*Sigh*

Soofla, clearly you won't be staying with us so please spare us the seemingly hourly updates on your birthing pains and just leave.

Did you really think that as a Vodafone customer you would get prioritised treatment when Vodafone use BT phonelines.

*Sigh*

Keep posting Soofla and ignore that dismissive and intolerant post @0847. The more we know about what is going on here, the better it can be understood and ultimately managed. Reading someone's posts though is a choice not compulsory.
