Vodafone connect router DHCP settings

mattman
4: Newbie

I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.

I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

"Soofla, clearly you won't be staying with us so please spare us the seemingly hourly updates on your birthing pains and just leave.

Did you really think that as a Vodafone customer you would get prioritised treatment when Vodafone use BT phonelines.

*Sigh*"

Staying with us?

So you're a Vodafone employee. OK, here is the deal.

I joined Vodafone broadband under the expectation that I would get a fast, stable connection. After having a stable 75mb connection on two other ISP's I would expect Vodafone to ffer me the same.

So far I've had a connection go live 4 days late and that same connection drop from 80mb sync to 55mb sync over 5 days.

The 10-14 days of "line training" is complete BS for a fibre connection, which will settle at it's maximum speed in a couple of days.

I am being told I can indeed leave under a "30 day network guarantee" but of course I then find myself £50 out of pocket - a charge which is at least double what most ISP's charge for connection.

The only difference between the BT, Talk Talk & Vodafone connection are:

1. The network

2. The Router

As the backhaul tends to be the same then the most likely cause of issue is the router. However Vodafone will not allow me to try my own equipment so I cna prove this point.

So, as a Vodafone employee, if ypou could see fit to finding someone who can authorise me leaving now and refunding my £50 connection then I shall happily go (you may need to pass this request up as I'm sure managers don't post on these forums).

Until such time, as I said in a different post, really don't want to be £50 out of pocket, I shall continue to post here as Google will pick up on the thread and others can read this kind of information before making their choice.

why do you say that you loose £50?  You've got right to cancel your contract within 30 days. They even provide you an envelope to send the router back for free...

Copy & Paste from the Vodafone T&C's:

What will I have to pay for if I cancel my Vodafone Broadband order?

If you cancel your order before the end of the 30-day return period but we’ve already started to provide your Vodafone Broadband services, you’ll need to pay for:

  • Your line rental
  • Any extras you’ve bought
  • Any services you’ve used that aren’t covered by the line rental (such as international calls or premium rate calls)

Please note that these charges cover the period up to the date you told us about your cancellation.

You’ll also need to pay for any activation, installation, connection or other service and maintenance fees you agreed to when setting up your Vodafone Broadband services. These charges will have been outlined to you in the guide that came with your service confirmation letter.

We’ll credit you with any line rental charges (including home phone features and extras), that you may have incurred from the date you told us you wanted to cancel to the date we received your Vodafone Broadband router from you.

However, we’ll only refund the standard postage costs (if these apply) that you paid for delivery of the products

The key part there being "You’ll also need to pay for any activation, installation, connection or other service and maintenance fees you agreed to when setting up your Vodafone Broadband services."

So yer, I can cancel, but as far as I can tell I wouldn't get my £50 activation back.

Your line rental
Any extras you’ve bought
Any services you’ve used that aren’t covered by the line rental (such as international calls or premium rate calls)

It does not say you pay for the router.

I didn't pay for my router in the first place. When I signed up for Vodafone Broadband I was charged £49 connection charge - this is what I won't see again as far as I can tell.

yeah - maybe you're right.  I would argue with them anyway.  Also, sometimes it is worth mentioning 'Ofcom' in the conversation. It may completely change their PoV.

Hi All,

I found this thread after I signed up for VF on Sunday, I want to use my Fritzbox which is a vdsl modem and router, I am currently using on VM with their box in modem mode and in my old house on BT it replaced the open reach modem and BT router with no issues at all.

Now I am wondering if I should cancel If I can't use my own equipment.

I travel a lot all over the world and use access to my system via VPN and use several Voip lines which are attached to router through the built in dect and this will all become messy if I have to attach to another router.

I will call CS and see what happens.

Cheers, Daz

If you manage to get anywhere, then please take the name of the operator who gave you the requested details.

So far there are a handful of people who claim to have been given their PPoE username/password.

However for the mjaority of us we are told no, this cannot be done and effectively those people on the forums who claim to have the detailsa re "lying".

So a name would be very handy.

No password given and the woman (Shah) I spoke to was adamant that it would not be supplied.

So looks like I will cancel the order.
