I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.
I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

In my experience, you can't just call up and say you want to use your own router because you don't like the Vodafone Huawei one, or it's slow as it's still prviding a service. You need to have a valid issue, which is on the lines of no service is being provided or very serverly degraded, even then you can't say that the Vodafone router is a bag of spanners, you need to get on to support and let them triage the issue.
Once Vodafone 2nd-line support have got back to you, whatever they've told you to do, like reboot, plug in to the master socket, etc, etc, go through the scripts, and you've given it a few days to 'settle' and you still have an issue that gives you more or less a cessation of service then and only then will they say that what you've got connected, usually switches, Sonos, repeaters, won't work, and then at that point you have the last option of cancelling the service and them losing you as a customer or if they want to keep you and probably your other Vodafone accounts, then you may get your username and password.
Being knowledgeable about what you're doing, i.e., configuring a router will help, as the last thing Vodafone want is to support is multiple devices on their fixed broadband network. Just my 2c...

I want to use my own router because I have a network storage device which connects to my own router directly by usb. The Vodafone router does not support this. I can connect my own router to the Vodafone router, but because the Vodafone router doesn't support any kind of bridging/modem only mode I am getting network issues, probably a double NAT situation.
How are Vodafone's tech team supposed to troubleshoot the fact that their router doesn't have a usb port?

Disgusting that Vodafone will not give us the details for PPPoE. Tried speaking to 1st and 2nd line several times. Got nowhere, but others on this forum have succeeded. Not wasting any more time with customer services. Defo leaving Vodafone when the contract ends.

And for those smart a***s who say that you need to explain WHY you need the username/password so that Vodafone can provide it, - more BULLS****T.
I've done all that. I'm a techie. I need static routes pointing back to different subnets in my LAN, I need VPN. I explained all of that to several VF support staff but it all fell on deaf ears. I got the impression they didn't even understand the technical terms. So please don't beat the Vodafone drum if you don't know what you're talking about.

Don't get angry at us. We simply tried to help by saying what worked for us when trying to get the PPPoE info. No 'drum beating' or 'not knowing what we're talking about'. I think everyone in this thread is equally frustrated and annoyed about how Vodafone are handling this, no need to have a strop at everyone else.
[edit]: And to respond to: "So how did you get those details only last week??" -- the answer is "Because Vodafone are massively inconsistent." There is no secret handshake involved. Some of us called/chatted repeatedly, explained our individual situations, and got lucky.

Apologies, didn't mean to offend anyone on this forum. Was just stating that the comment "if you explain WHY you need the login details, Vodafone will give them to you" was not at all correct. VF staff basically fobbed me off in polite terms.

The fact is that if they stated up-front that their router was mandatory, I would have cancelled within 2 weeks of service. The VF modem was massively unstable on my line, causing speeds to be capped due to instability. In that situation, VF had a choice: lose my custom, or let me use my known-good Openreach modem. Regardless of what 'added value services' they believe they can sell using their own kit, I simply wouldn't be their customer if the VF modem was mandatory.

I think what might be nice is that those people who have managed to get their PPoE details to refrain from telling us "how great" it is. By all means tell us how ridiculous Vodafone are by only giving the details to some people.
However what doesn't help is when some of us are experiencing poor connectivity and we know it is the Vodafone router yet can do nothing about it read others telling us how they are using their own kit, here is a screen shot etc.
Really isn't helping or making some of us feel any better.

Oh, absolutely agree.
"I'm all right, Jack" doesn't help at all, but (speaking as someone who got lucky) that's not my intention.
Probably not helped by the fact that this thread is long and contains lots of people's individual stories, so there will be an amount of celebratory "Woohoo, finally!" in here.
