I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.
I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

I wish I could believe that - I totally understand why you may want to limit what devices are used to reduce support costs, but when you have advanced users who know what they're doing then all it takes is a note on their account and a warning that any issues with 3rd party equipment will not be supported. I'm with Plusnet for my main line and they have the same policy, they are quite happy for me to use my own kit but when I raise a support call, I do so with their router in situ not my own kit.
Hardly a lot to ask is it.

Ignoring double natting is not a good idea if you ever want to do any kind of port forwarding - you'll find it won't work.
As an additional step to your guide, if it's possible, you should put your second device in the DMZ of the Vodafone router. This will pass all firewall traffic from the Vodafone router unhindered to the second device which can then do as it wishes with it.
An alternative would be to open the port from the Vodafone router to your second device and then from your second device to your target device - the end result is the same but with this option you need to open up ports on both the Vodafone router and your own router.
DO NOT do the DMZ step above if the second device is not doing Network Address Translation or you open up your internal network to the outside world!!

Hi followed you directions exactly and the Airport Extreme seems now to be correclty configured (green light) but for some reason I still don't get an internet connection via the VF modem/router. Any ideas. The only thing I hvan't done (yet) is turn off the modems' wifi as I'm worried about losing all internet connectivity...any suggestions?

There is no need to turn off the Vodafone router Wifi..
How far do you get? Are you using 'n' 2.4Ghz or 'ac' 5Ghz Wifi?
Have you set the Airport Extreme to use a different SSID and password?
Does the Airport Extreme have a wired connectio to the Vodafone router?
Have you disabled DHCP on Airport extreme and set its IP address to something that does not overlap the Vodafone routers DHCP range?

Anybody else finding their dowload speed takes a severe nosedive during peak evening times?? Contention issues hitting the vodafone network already?? Never got these issues with BT.

No issues for me so far.
Just looked on the ebay. Those routers are very cheap now. I'm going to buy one and give another go with extracting the password.
I didn't want to play with mine as I might need it in the future when Voda decides to change the pppoe password one day.

AIUI the password is encrypted.

It was encrypted in the config backup, there must be a way (possibly with a soil) to decrypt it. Another possibility is to sniff what's happening On the TR069 traffic where the password gets (probably) provisioned.
