Vodafone connect router DHCP settings

I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.

I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

VR900 is fine, performance is great, no trouble connecting (just picked the BT profile).

"peecee" reported on a VR600, but at the time it wasn't working (see page 12 of this thread) - probably authentication - but maybe not.  He/she may have it working now, so you could ask him/her.

Hi Mattman, I have a similar issue. I need to get access to the DHCP Server as I need to manually set some IP addresses for a few hotspots and stereo receivers. Did you find any solution for this?

Hi Janne

You need to have your Vodafone router on the newer firmware version 5.4.8.1.271.1.59 and this will give the option to turn it off or just add static IP address based on the device MAC address.

What firmware version is your router.

Matt

Hi again Matt, thanks a lot for coming back to me!

My firmware is now 5.4.8.1.271.1.59 and you are right, now I can lock down addresses and also set the range of addresses that the DHCP Server can use. Problem solved - thanks a lot again!

Hi All,

I'm another one of bunch that would rather use their own equipment on the line and the only thing keeping me here is the price for the broadband.

I'm a adsl user, 12 down 1 up and have wanted to use my own vigor modem and router.

The number of times I've been on the phone to Vodafone about this is has just made me give up.

Now, I've got my username though snooping through the old router config before they decided to encrypt the file with a hash key (password)  but I'm trying to understand what the password is and how it relates to the user.

Now a number of you have posted that Vodafone have given you the password but none of you have said what it looks like (a random string of characters, phone number, mac address of the router, account number) which could possibly give me an idea of where to look to find out my own password.

Is anyone willing to share what the password was for them, considering it's only of benefit to someone else if you've given your username too which I'm sure none of us are daft to give the whole thing out.

Put it this way, you'd be doing me a massive favour but I understand why folk wouldn't want to do such a thing.

There's no way to work your own password or find it from.the config. Only way is to get it from Vodafone themselves so someone sharing their password with you won't help a bit. Sorry, you are going to have to keep at them until they give in

To confirm, your password is an 8 digit upper and lower case alpha string that is not stored in the dump of your settings nor is it related to any information in there. As Lemaru says, the only place to get it is from Vodafone support.

I managed to get my details relatively easily through live chat. I told them I was having lots of issues with their router causing me problems. They initially said they couldn't give me my credentials so I commented on this thread saying there's a thread on your own forum detailing people who had got their credentials. I then said I was happy to take full responsibility for my own kit and at that point they agreed to get me my details. They then sent me my username and password. Although the username given wasn't quite right as it didn't give the full name just the first part and not the @Vodafone etc. But I'd already got that from the data dump.
I have now tried it using both an almond+ router through a bt box and also a tp link archer vr2600. Both worked without any problems.
