Vodafone connect router DHCP settings

I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.

I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

Its alright. Better than some ISPs WiFi coverage.

I tried to use mine as a second router due to built in AC, but poor development of the software meant because that router wasnt directly connected to the internet, its routing table was so stupid it kept showing me the No Internet Connection error lol.
May be better as the primary router if needs be.

Tried to get login details and was refused. Like others, I was told it was against their ts&cs. Also told that agents have been recently warned not to give out the details anymore. I was told that I need to use their router for security and diagnostic reasons. Disappointed - the parental controls are really poor on the Vodafone router compared to others.

Same * as I was told yesterday KFS. I pointed out that if its diagnostic purposes were required in the event of an issue, it could see be plugged back in.

It's pretty obvious than anyone wanting to set up their own router would be unlikely to call support unless it was clear the Voda network was at fault. They are just the sort of end user who would try the Voda router in diagnostically anway before ringing up with a connection issue.

The security reason is also bogus. My Draytek has much better security for my required encypted VPNs to my two other routers*.

If these concerns were genuine all the other broadband providers would have the same t&c. AFAIK, only Sky is as equally myopic in its commercial decision making processes.

There must be more to this that isn't immediately apparent......

* Does anyone with a Voda router know, say, if you can block WiFi to everyone apart from devices with recognised MAC codes?

Goto Expert Mode > Settings > MAC Filter then move the slider by MAC Filtering to the right.

Seems you can "manage" upto an amazing 32 devices. You can capture "known" addresses to the filter. When done you need to scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Apply to save the changes.

Yes, Enceladus, I am aware of this setting and know my way around routers. This filter system is, however, deficient in key ways. Here are the main deficiencies: you cannot set defined time access for devices (these need to be turned off and on manually); you cannot set timed access for individual devices (all devices are dependent on the same setting); there is not one unified MAC filter (different settings for WiFi and LAN); the system does not recognise PowerPlugs (which, in my case, also have their own wifi built in). Basically, the parental controls are not developed, and do not relate to the reality of families with different aged kids and multiple devices. I do not think it is much to ask - many of their competitors (Plusnet, Virgin Media, etc.) have far better controls. Individual timed access controls have been a feature on firmware like that of ASUS and Tomato for years now.
