Hi,
I opened an sim only contract last year however, one day after starting the new contact EE gave me a btter deal which Vodapone were not able to match. Therefore I called Vodapone and after waiting more than hour and being transfered multiple times I was told my contract was cancelled.
I was then suprised to find that Vodapone debited me the month after and therefore assuming this was a mistake I called my bank and cancelled the direct debit.
I then recieved emails from debt collectors stating that I owed Vodapone money. I then found out that this was the early cancellation fee which i needed to pay and this was not explained to me in the cancellation process. However I settled the amount with Vodapone and I was told my credit file will not be touched as there was a missunderstanding.
However, after carrying out a credit report I was shocked to see that Vodapone had left a default. I have never missed any payments in my life and it is not fair that Vodapone have done this when there was errors on their end furthermore, I was told that as I have settled the case there will no effect on my credit file.
Can someone please look into this and remove the error on my credit score.
Thanks and regards,
Daniel

Here is a help thread I wrote > Default-on-your-Credit-File-and-How-to-add-a-Notice-of-Correction.
As you cancelled within the Network Satisfaction Guarantee period @dratnaras you would have only been charged for what you used. What we see sometimes is that a person has cancelled their Direct Debit too fast before everything can be settled and have received a £0 bill and sorry your Leaving letter

if you took out the contract at Carphone warehouse then there would be no returns policy (unless you did it online) and regardless if you cancelled it or not you do have to pay a month in advance at the beginning of any mobile contract
