My activation date is today. I plugged it in as illustrated in the photo. I'm unsure about where Port 1 is. Internet is showing a red flashing light. Can anyone help please?

I plugged the ethernet into the port next to the openreach box with the number 1. Not sure if it's correct.
This is the box.

Network cable from ONT (the box on the wall) to WAN on the router.

So which one do I need to unplug?

On the openreach ONT remove the white lead from the yellow socket then connect that socket to the blue socket on the back of the vodafone router. That should get you a connection while we try to work out the rest of that spaghetti.

At all times be careful around the cable with the green sleeving - that's your incoming fibre and it's easy to damage it.
The white lead you removed from the ONT's yellow socket should trace back to the white box bottom right. If I'm right that box is now redundant and can be removed along with it's mains adapter.
I believe the two rj45s on that wall plate with the blanks will connect to two outlets elsewhere in your property. If you want to use those outlets you can connect both of those to any of the yellow lan ports on the vodafone router.

Amazing, thank you for your help! It's working now.
It was simple, but the cable spaghetti was confusing.

Very definitely not the best location for the router - thanks to the built-in ethernet in the house it could be moved!

What I'm thinking is, as it's a new build they'll likely feed a couple of switches elsewhere. Also new builds tend to block the signal less. It's for @Pangolin69 to check this out and ask for advice as needed. This little exercise was just to get the broadband up and running.

Yup, totally agree get it all up and working before messing it up!
