Very funny vodafone. Close the relevant thread then put me back on the Edinburgh gateway - and my connection was reset to do this. Really really funny. To say I'm pee'd off is an understatement. I should not be getting a better internet connection by tethering with my phone (4G). I'm running a trace now for 24hrs which I'll paste here tomorrow night.
I shouldn't have to connect to a French VPN to get a decent connection to UK servers. And so the saga resumes, part deux............

Hi everyone,
Please be assured we are reading through your posts and I do appreciate you're frustrated about these issues.
I myself raised this and it was taken to the Home Broadband Technical team who advised there wasn't a widespread issue - now I do understand that's not how you're seeing things from your side.
They advised me that for anyone still having issues, they need to be raised on an individual basis, so that they can each be full investigated.
I know both myself and my team have mentioned this before - and I'm sorry for the repetition. We need you to get in touch with the Home Broadband team via these channels:
- by calling us on 191 from a Vodafone mobile
- by calling 0333 30 40 191 from a landline or other mobile (standard charges apply)
There isn't anything further my team here or via Social Media can do in relation to this.

Fact is @Amanda this particular problem will never be fixed as it's now policy under the guise of 'load balancing'.
All we can do is sit here and suffer until maybe, one day, the routing will change back to something more reasonable.
The social team already have the info, or were those records scrubbed along with the original thread?

It's just getting silly now. I'm still connected to the Edinburgh gateway but since Saturday my ping has constantly been over 95ms to 8.8.8.8
Unless it's Google's fault.

Definitely pointless providing info that's already been provided. Every night the connection lags and is mainly unusable between the hours of 7pm till 10pm that smacks of a network that is close to capacity and load balancing isn't really working.
That is about as good as it gets for me in an evening nothing short of shocking, while my neighbours on other cityfibre fed providers carry on perfectly fine.

I'm in Hadleigh Essex, but connected to the Leeds gateway, however my ping isn't that high.
Pinging 8.8.8.8 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 8.8.8.8: bytes=32 time=19ms TTL=119
Reply from 8.8.8.8: bytes=32 time=18ms TTL=119
Reply from 8.8.8.8: bytes=32 time=18ms TTL=119
Reply from 8.8.8.8: bytes=32 time=20ms TTL=119
I know you have said that the Leeds gateway would be your local one, so you are roughly equidistance between you and your gateway as me. so I would expect your ping to be similar,.

At the weekend it was crazy slow - there may have been some work going on. Right now it's back to 32-34.

It's crazy like there's loads of activity, only this is when I'm not even using the net. 😠
This is unrelated to the 'blip' thread as my minimum ping is constant.

Latest update - still declining 😞

After 4 online chats and 5 phone calls this has finally been elevated to level 2. But that means nothing. If they do their normal testing through a local gateway they'll not see the issue. I need to persuade them to test through Edinburgh. Fat chance!

Had a call from level 2. They can't see the problem. They also stated that my connection cannot be moved to another gateway, and that the Edinburgh BNG has nothing to do with the gateway I'm connected to.
Now gone to level 3.
