Using broadband boosters.

I currently have the Ultimate Broadband with x1 Booster. The connection is very poor even though the app says there is nothing wrong. Vodafone have offered to send out more boosters and I should connect my static devices ie TVs via ethernet cables (which I don't have the capability to do, as they are spread over 3 floors with the wifi hub being on the ground floor.

We can't stream without buffering even after lowering the video quality to the lowest, the wifi frequently drops out and alexa devices can't find the connection, mobile phone data is faster.

I find the booster very inconvenient as you can only connect 1 device at a time and only for limited periods before having to manually reconnect. The expert said I can change my booster setting so it runs all the time, but I have been through every setting on the app and can not find anything to say I can change this.

Has anyone else been able to change the booster settings? Or had this problem? Did more boosters help or am I on to nowt?

Have you tried going round the house with a signal detector just to survey where the poor reception areas are and whether moving/rotating the router helps at all? A suitable on for Android is ""WiFiAnalyser" by VREM Software Development and is found on the Android Store.

Assuming that your Vodafone kit is ok, then the additional boosters are likely to help.

As an alternative to boosters, Powerline devices may be suitable in your situation.

Unfortunately I can not move my router without getting the BT line moved. However I used the Vodafone signal analyser when setting up the booster, so its supposedly in a good signal position. It's has take me all day to stream one 40 min episode on a "boosted" TV and that TV is in the same room as the booster. In the end I just watched on on my mobile over mobile data.

Sorry, I wasn't particularly clear about moving the router. I meant to move it within the limits of the cables to the wall and turning it through 90 degrees. Sometimes the simplest things work.

Have a quick search in this forum because there have been a number of similar queries about the boosters and I believe that the VF hardware has changed lately.

I'm not using the THG3000 and it's quite a while since I did use it. Meanwhile I am confident that one of the other regulars will pop-in soon enough.

Thank you I will try and see if I get any improvement.

You say you are on Ultimate broadband. Does that mean you are in Pro II with the Ultra Hub?

As you have 3 floors, I would definitely take the offer of the extra booster.

Information on how the Ultra Hub, and it's boosters, actually work in limited, but from the specs it should not have the problems that plagued the THG3000 and its so-called boosters.
