How do I reconnect my number

Hi,

 

I had the same number for about 14 years - and moved from a Vodafone pay monthly to pay as you go. Having not topped up the PAYG sim in 180 days - the sim card has been disconnected - and I fear I have lost my number.

 

What is the process for starting the reconnection process.

Hi @renegadeandy 

 

The Vodafone disconnection policy for PAYG is 180 days of not topping up or making a chargeable connection.  Vodafone would have sent a text message reminder at 90 days and a further text reminder at 45 days.  If no action was taken the number would have been disconnected from the network.

 

It's unlikely you will be able to get the number back and will need a new SIM with an alternative number but no harm speaking to Vodafone here: Contact Us

I have tried messaging on Facebook, and calling up.

 

I get no response on facebook - and on the telephone I get different confused advice from different individuals.

 

I want to understand the process - and specifically how to make the reconnect attempt. Messaging a generic support facebook chat doesn't seem to get me very far.

There used to be around a 2 week window to reactivate a payg number.

Unfortunately that has ceased thus Vodafone won't be able to reactivate it.

So where has the number gone? It cannot disappear into thin air? So there must be a way via vodafone or some other standard to get it reassigned back to a network.

Hey @renegadeandy - We can look into getting you reconnected to the same number, but it could have been assigned to a new connection customer. If it is still in our 'pool' of numbers, there's a chance we could get it reconnected.

For us to check this, I would advise to contact us again on social media. We are a bit busy there at the moment but we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

This sounds hopeful.

 

My previous attempts at a social media conversation via facebook resulted in a 24 hour wait, then a 15 minute brief conversation where they failed my authentication - so now i guess i wait *yet another* 24 hours? This seems ridiculous in terms of a wait.

 

Hi are you still around and how would I try to get help with this kind of problem currently?
