Hi
I recently took out a new SIM only contract with Vodafone after having been with Tesco Mobile for some time. The number was supposed to port across to Vodafone yesterday (Friday). Around midday my Tesco SIM stopped working, however the number has not come across to Vodafone yet.
My Vodafone sim works, but still with the temporary number. I've tried live chat but they just tell me that the transfer is in progress and I have to wait, and cannot give me any idea of the timescale.
I have done quite a few PAC transfers between various networks over the years and this is the first time I've ever known the process take more than a couple of hours to complete. What's going on?
Solved! Go to best answer.

If Friday was your port day then it should have been completed by close of play.
So you're saying that outbound calls still show your Vodafone temporary number. How about incoming calls? Do you have to ring your VF temp number to reach you also or do incoming calls to your number work?
Either way, it sounds like a split port if things aren't how they should be.
Switch your phone off and on again if you haven't already to re-register to the network (sounds like dumb advice I know but this did fix a number port problem for me a few years ago so worth checking).
But if you still have no service then call 191 and ask to speak to the number port team. They'll chase things up in the background to get it closed off for you.

Hey Jason,
I replied on the other thread but I'll post here also. You need to call 191 rather than go on Live Chat. Ask the agent to transfer you to the porting team (they're probably a Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00 team so call then) and get them to look into your split port.
I did this and the sign that it was all sorted was when an email dropped in from my previous supplier saying I'd ported out sucesfully. This was a few days after when it should have happened.
Make sure you post and let the forum know how you get on.

Im having a very similar issue at the minute and have now been let down 3 times. How did you contact vodafone and did you request to speak to the porting team? I requested this today and was denied on live chat.
Any advice would be appreciated
Many thanks
Jason
Hi Jason,
I would suggest dialling 191, that's what I did and they are generally very helpful. I seem to recall they did put me through to the porting team.
I have tried Vodafone online live chat various times over the years and I'm sorry to say it has been a complete waste of time every time. They seem to specialise in promising whatever the customer requests but do precisely nothing about it afterwards. Far better to dial 191 and speak to someone.
