Solution

SS1 problem

profpugwash
4: Newbie

My SS1 has stopped working.

It has worked faultlessly since I got it but 2 days ago started flashing lights 1 & 3, then 2 then repeating.

After a couple of reboots the lights are flashing 1 & 2, then 2, then 1, then repeat.

Help please!

What is the point of the Tech Team?  Both Andrew and Lee have read my PMs asking for help on this post.  Andrew has replied to 5 other threads in the last hour and no-one has helped me!

Please will someone help me.  Can't you at least start by resetting at your end like you do for other users?

I mean I can see when my PMs have been read, I can see them posting to other threads but I don't hear a thing, all it takes is a quick message to say we'll look at it tomorrow, or anything at all - it is frustrating in the extreme!!

The lights are now flashing 1&2, then 2, then 1, then repeat.

How can I self help when neither of the sequences I am encountering are detailed in the troubleshooting guide.

If this was a self help forum we have to have the tools to be able to help ourselves.

Has no-one encountered these sequences before?? I find it hard to believe that my SS1 is special and has, of its own accord, made up some flashing light sequences for fun.  Jeffkers mate, what does it all mean??

No idea. My SS2 works perfectly. Good luck!

Jeffkinn_Sig.png

My SS1 had the following two sequences of flashing lights which were not mentioned anywhere in the troubleshooting (even after power downs and resyncs by vodafone):

Lights 1,2 & 3 all come on then off.  Light 2 comes on then off.  Lights 1 & 3 come on then off.  Repeat.

Lights 1 & 2 come on then off.  Light 2 comes on then off.  Light 1 comes on then offf.  Repeat.

Talking to a live chat advisor you are simply sent to the tech team on 08700 700 191 option 2 then option 2.

It would seem that a flashing power light (1) never showing solid simply requires a replacement box to be sent out which the advisor on the above number will do.

Hope this helps someone :Smiling:

my dear jiffken me old mucker, thank you for objecting to message 27 which i see hasnt actually been removed.

just out of interest i was wondering which part of the t&cs below i had actually violated in making the critical statement of fact?

You may not use the Vodafone eForum:
- to distribute, receive, access or transmit any Content which is obscene, pornographic, threatening, racist, sexist, inappropriate, menacing, offensive, defamatory, in breach of confidence or privacy, in breach of any intellectual property right (including copyright) or otherwise unlawful

it would seem that rather than being a true forum there are some slight despotic tendencies shown in that if a valid critical statement is made then the poster must be punished.

also, i appreciate your reponse (message 30) in reply to my query (message 29) however it would seem you have been somewhat evasive in the content of your reply and appear to be saying that because you have typed a large number of characters you know more than me which is quite a sweeping statment given that you do not know anything about me or my background whatsoever.

anyway, back to the point, i would be interested to understand how the forum can be be a self help community when the majority of threads end with the tech team resyncing?  if customers were able to resync themselves i could understand your assertation.

Hi profpigwush,

Let's see. First of all your first transgression of the T&Cs was to post the same question umpteen times in breach of this condition:

"- to post duplicate threads. If a thread already exists that relates to the same Content, you must use that thread;"

Secondly it also says "If at any time you feel threatened by another member of the Vodafone eForum, believe their use or posting is in breach of these Terms or if you’ve received a message that makes you feel uncomfortable through the use of the Vodafone eForum" and being the sensitive little soul that I am your comment "if you do believe that that level of ignorance, lack of respect and plain rudeness to customers is acceptable then i pity the world in which you live." was close to personal abuse. In retrospect, and having slept on it , I accept it was as a result of frustration and I'm not bothered by it. But, being a regular poster here, I and many others have been subjected to some horrible verbal abuse and I'm quite sensitive to in in the sense that I want to see it stamped out on this forum.

You also misread my comment about the number of posts. What I was saying is that a regular poster I know how this forum works. I know nothing about you of course.

Lastly, the self help is us as a community in general and not self service like a Tesco checkout. But if it is account specific, or if it involves looking into a Sure Signal technically and potentially re-syncing it, that of course has to be dine by Vodafone personnel.

There are thousands of threads on here that deal with how individual handsets work, or how to get out of contracts and general stuff like that, and that is where the community really helps.

I hope this helps

Jeff

Hi profpugwash,

I've not come across the lgith sequence you've mentioned before, but it could definitely indicate a faulty Sure Signal.

I've checked the serial number you supplied and that unit hasn't communicated with our servers since August of last year which is probably what's causing a lot of the problems you're seeing.

To echo Magicman13, have you called 191 as your post would suggest? If you still need our help, let me know and we can arrange to contact you privately for a chat.

Paul

Hi PaulE,

My unit has been working well up until late last week.  Andrew mentioned that the servers had flagged my unit as moving but I have been on the same line with the same router with the same line provider and the same ISP for longer than a year.

Are you able to log a support call with the manufacturers asking for an explanation of the light sequences (a full and complete list from them posted in the troubleshooting would no doubt assist many other users and I guess also help yourselves in diagnosing issues)?

Cheers.
