SureSignal not working

Hello -

Please can you help ?

My SureSignal v2 has not been working for awhile, there is only a steady power light on it. It did used to work ok, not sure exactly when it stopped working (maybe months ago). I've tried rebooting/resetting the unit but it doesn't fix the problem - it cycles through flashing both white LED then just the left one, then it goes back to a steady power light only before repeating the cycle.

I've got a BT HomeHub 3 (BT Infinity)

S/N of my Sure Signal is 41113720712

I've followed all the troubleshooting steps from the "Steady power light only" post but nothing helped.

Welcome to the eForum mattas,

Many thanks for posting your details ready. I've checked through them and all looks healthy for your traceroute, speed test and IP details. :Smiling:

The unit is connecting to our servers this end but I'm pushing a manual synchronisation out for you to make sure your Sure Signal is up to date.

To complete the process can you:

  • Locate the button on the base of the box next to the Ethernet ports.
  • Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds.
  • Once the lights come back on, release the button.
  • The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

If you're still seeing issues after an hour or so, or you test another Ethernet cable so we can rule out faulty equipment?

Cheers, Ben

Hi Matt

Nothing seems to have changed. Lights 1,2 and 4 still on and solid but nothing on the phone. Has the firmware thing happened?

Hi ChrisPounsett,

It still hasn't updated to the latest firmware unfortunately.

Leave it with me and I'll chase it up with the relevant team tomorrow. I'll come back to you ASAP.

Thanks,

Kay

Hi ChrisPounsett,

I've now arranged this for you.:smileyhappy:

Please don't reset or unplug the box for at least 24 hours.

Thanks,

Kay

OK thanks Kay. I shall wait with bated breath!

Bingo!

Miraculously started working again.

Thanks Kay....who says these forum things dont work!

AND we are back where we started. I reckon my VSS1 works about 290% of the time. Serial 21197023308. Three lights, 1,2 and 4.. NO SERVICE. I have re-booted everything (VSS, computer and phone) twice. I have reset the SS four times (Remove ethernet cable, hold down reset until lights flash, remove power cable, wait 5 secs, replace power cable, wait until lights flash, remove finger from reset button and replace ethernet cable, right?). NO SERVICE.

Sorry (why am I apologising) but this is getting beyond a joke.

Hi 8970,

Your Sure Signal is on an older version of firmware.

I’ve asked for the latest one to be pushed out to you.

This process can take up to 24 hours to complete.

During this time, don’t unplug or reset your device.

Thanks,

Andy

Thank you. I will wait with bated breath!

And we have serrvice! Many thanks. Whatever you did, can you put a note on our file or something so that next time this happens (a week?) your colleafues will know what it is that screws up our lives!

Thanks again.

Hi

I have the Mark 1 SureSignal and it normally works well, although I occasionally have to switch off the iPhone when I come back home to force it to find the signal.

For the last couple of days, however, there has been no signal; this follows a period of about 12 days when the router and SureSignal were switched off, as I was away on holiday - that is not normally a problem.  I've tried holding in the reset button on the SureSignal for 30 seconds and waiting an hour, I've tried switching off the router and SureSignal and rebooting, and I've tried switching off the phone and disabling automatic network search.  None of these has made any difference.

Lights 1, 2 and 4 on the SureSignal are all on and the phone works when I take it within signal range.  I can't check 3G specifically as you still don't have 3G coverage in Shetland (hint).

Please can you check if all is well at your end?  The number is (mobile number removed for security).

Many thanks

Alastair
