I'm hoping this will be easy to solve.
I have the Vodafone Mobile Connect software installed on my Apple laptop. It was all going fine. Then, a few weeks ago, I had to "force quit" as the programme "was not responding" when I shut my laptop down. Ever since then, when I click on the Vodafone Mobile Connect icon, it doesn't open. (It just "bounces" in the menu bar, as if it is about to open, but never does.)
I can still connect using the Internet Connect panel, so it's not affecting my use of the mobile broadband, but every time I shut my laptop down, I have "force quit" Vodafone Mobile Connect. I can't quit it in the usual way - and it also means that the control panels do not appear, telling me how much of my allowance I've used.
What do I need to do to restore it?

Do you have any aspect of the VMC application running as a process?
From a terminal, ps -lA might show this.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

Now I'm going to sound thick: how do I uninstall it? When I open it, none of the menu options work. Edit, Tools, etc. all appear in the menu bar but clicking on them does nothing. (This is why I can't "quit" the programme in the normal way. Even Apple-Q won't work.

Sorry - I don't use a Mac on a regular basis, so, I honestly have no idea.
In terms of killing the process, can you use:
ps -lA
kill

Hi Andrew_Collins
I think the best thing to do he would be to uninstall/install
All you'll need to do to uninstall this is (and don't worry I haven't gone insane) run the Vodafone Mobile Connect Installer
and from there you will have the option to uninstall
Let me know how that goes and if you have any more questions please let me know and I'll be more than happy to help
Thanks

Thanks for that nugget of advice, Wayne. I had "uninstalled" in the traditional but heavy-handed Mac way of putting the software in the bin! Now that I have uninstalled it using the installer, I have successfully reactivated Vodafone Mobile Connect and it all seems back to normal.
I'm guessing that a lot of my problems with it arise from working in the British Library, where they have free wi-fi, but not being able to send out from MacMail, so I switch over to Vodafone using my dongle whenever I need to send emails out. This means I switch between the two quite often. It probably confuses my Mac.
Also, when I'm in the Libary and it's very quiet, the overenthusiastic fan on my laptop can be a problem. I've found that it's the Vodafone programme that overheats it, so I have to deactivate it in order to stop the fan. This doesn't affect connectivity, but perhaps ejecting it caused the problem?
