Is anybody else being forced to pay for a monthly tariff that they do not use and are not allowed to reduce it? And Vodafone unwilling to help and i am locked intop a 2 year contract and i will be in excess of £200 out of pocket!! I am currently away working in Iraq hence why i am on this forum and if i didn't need my phone to keep in touch with my family out here i would cancel it all together. Vodafone have no care for customer service, they just want money from the customer any which way they can! I only get 30 days out of 90 at home at most of that time has been spent being being wasted on tedious calls to people who don't care!

Hi @acko2563
Any network will treat you the same, taking out a mobile phone contract is a financial commitment and it's legally binding.
You have agreed a contact for a minimum term and have to keep to the agreement, you cannot pay less for the contract.
If you don't use the contract, there is always the change of ownership option to a trustworthy friend or relative. That way all responsibility towards the contract and repayments will be with a new owner.

I'm afraid AnnS is right. However, there is an option to buy yourself out with an Early Termination Fee. This is basically the remaining monthly payments without the VAT and with a 2% discount. AFAIK, you get to keep the phone, so can use it with a local or PAYG SIM. If you want to do thatm it would be a good idea to get it unlocked from Vodafone before cancelling.

why should i put myself further out of pocket when i am paying for a tariff that is not compatible with my phone?

What's made you think a tariff is connected to a particular phone model ?
In short it isn't.
People switch their SIM cards into different phones for different reasons all the time.
